xplod amp and the over current light

I have the sony 760 watts pushing 2 type r's and when i turn it up, and hit a certain bass line in the song the amp will shut off? Now did i hook something up wrong or does the amp just suck?

From what everyone has told me they just suck. I have that same exact Amp for about 8 months now and ive had no problems yet, key word YET. I have it bridged going to a 10 inch Sony sub, with the gain set at about 75% full. So far when it hits it hasnt cut out.

Its the amp. I used to have one on a single 12 Type-R and couldnt run the sub in 2 ohm mode or the over current lite would come on. Do you have them wired at 2 or 4 ohm? If you have them run at 2 ohm, re-run it to 4. If you have it at 4, try 8, if that doesnt work, get a JBL 1200.1 for 275 bucks from ikesound.com. I blew my single type r 2 times in bout 10 minutes, so I upgraded to an Eclipse 12" and have no problems. I think it would be great on 2 of the type r's. They would ahve all the power they needed and then some. you could also get the JBL 600.1 if your worried about blowin subs.

Be sure you have it wired correctly, and have large enough power wire to feed the current it needs.
