whats your opinion of clarion?
for a big birthday gift my parents got me hooked up with a decent system (380W clarion amp pusing 2 clarion 4's and 2 MBQuart 6X9's) at the time i had a sony HU (came with the car) now i have a pioneer deh 3400. anyway the shop that they got it done at pretty much only sold Clarion, he said it was one of the top 5 car audio brands out at the time (a year and a half ago) since then i've upgraded and i'm trying to sell my amp. i know alot more about car audio now but nobody talks about clarion much. so whats your guys opinions?

Clarion's a really good company. I wouldnt say top 5, because there are some super-high quality brands out there (Denon, Nakamichi, etc). they have good quality decks and i believe their amps arent bad either. all in all, on a scale of 1 to 10 for quality, i'd rate them a 7 (8 for their top of the line stuff). i owned one of their 1/2 DIN eq's and it was very nice. only reason i'm not using it anymore is because when my car got broken into, they fried something inside the unit (plus my new jvc sh909 has a 7 abnd eq built in). but i would buy it again if i had a need for it.

It's awesome. I'm STILL running a Clarion DRX5675, which at it's time was fairly high end and had a set of TWO pre-outs! (Also big at the time). The deck has been car active for at least three years, with no problems to speak of whatsoever..a bit sensitive with CD-R discs, but that was only until I had the deck properly and shock-free mounted. I highly reccomend them.:hail:

I've been running a clarion deck in my truck for about 4 years now with no problems. It's got 3 pre-amp outs, tv controls, and a few other options. REALLY nice unit. I would buy clarion for all my cars and recommend them to everyone.

I like Clarion. I ran one of their lower end decks for a while and was very happy with it. Until I let my buddy use it when I got rid of the truck and he dropped it... it never really worked right after that, lol.

The best!
I think they make one of the best HU's out there (ProAudio line). I had one of the DRX8575's in my old car until it got repoed. After that, I could not find one for almost a year. Finally found one on eBay, and put it in over a year ago. Never had a problem with either of them. The ProAudio line has some of the cleanest sound. Many options, too. I have owned many different HU's (Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony) and I feel the Clarion is by far superior. HTH
