What do you guys think?

Right now i've got a Jensen tape player, with some cheap Pioneer speakers.

I'm planning out a system, and figure I'll get it one piece at a time (read - one paycheck per piece at a time )

Anyway, here goes -

Alpine CDE 7870 CD Player (Upgrade to a 7894 later)
Custom Kick Pods
Blaupunkt ODca Overdrive 6.5" Oversized Component Set (70rms) for the front (includes crossovers, blah blah blah)
Blaupunkt ODxa694 Overdrive DVC (75rms + 75rms) 6x9s, for the rear locations
Blaupunkt ODwa1200 12" DVC (200rms + 200rms) Subwoofer, in a fiberglass enclosure.

Power:
Alpine MRV-F340 (55rmsx4) to power the Components, and the primary voice coil of the 6x9, the front ODca's set to around 100hz, the rear voice coil set to about 250.

Alpine MRVT320 (80x2 rms) to power the second voice coil of the 6x9, set to 50hz

Alpine MRD-M500 (500x1 @ 2ohm) for the ODwa1200, set with subsonic filter @ 15hz.

I'm going for a nice, clean, loud playing system. Does this seem like it'd be playing worth anything?

eh...
The only thing that I would really change is the subs and the amp for the subs. I have yet to hear those subs so I could be way off base, but Blau speakers are better than ok but not the best so I would assume the same for the subs. That M500 amp is nice but not as nice as it costs. For the same price you can get two JBL 600.1's.
Just my .02

$200 vs $300... besides, I'm gonna build an amp rack, and I think it'd look better with all the same style amps... Besides, the V12 series, from what I've seen, allows for some SUPER fine tuning...

And I've heard the 10's. omg... incredibly smooth bass. I fell in love with the ODwa Overdrive Subs from Blau.

Do you suppose I could get the Alpine MRV-450 (5 channel) amp to run all 4 speaks, plus the second 6x9 voice coil, instead of the two seperate amps? I'd save like $150 that way...

Hold on.... you're going to use 2 different amps to to power the voice coils on your 6x9's?? With different power ratings?? And crossed over at different frequencies??
Am I reading this wrong or something?

If not, then I've never heard of such a recipe for disaster... I don't unerstand what you're trying to accomplish, it seems unneccessarily complicated and confused.

the head unit does not put out 55 rms, it puts out low 20s, my alpine head unit puts out 60x4, and i tell u what with 4 speakers and a sub, and soon to be kicks with an amp....it get plenty loud for playing while driving, It is such a waste of money in most cases to just try and out do your friends b/c then you can be the cool kid, you want a nice sounding system, alpine HU, Infinity KAPPA CMMD speakers(same damned cost at the blaupunkts on ebay), an older V12 amp such as the MRV-F400(what i used) to power the speakers untill i realzed that it is gay to need them that loud), Infinity referance 12" sub IN THE RIGHT SIZED BOX, powered with a V12 amp of around 300 rms. now i have that except i have the speakers running off the HU and the sub is only gettn 150 rms due to lack of funds and a borrowed amp....but it still hits nice and it is CLEAN, maybe b/c i designed the box around the sub and did just slap a box together and but a sub in it or go out and buy a sub-box an assume that it is the correct size.....nope.....the box is a HUGE part in how the sub sounds.... my friend had 2 12" sub in a box that was WAYYYY to small, .5 or someting, upped it to 1cu and only one 12" pounds just as hard.

defin;y stay with the alpine amps. I've had other amps that just blew after a year. I've since been running my v12's for 3 years. they are also real easy to tune.

i would definately suggest NOT to amp the 6x9's with 2 different sets of amp with different power ratings.

if you already own those amps, and if they handle 2ohm stereo (which i believe they should) you could wire the 6x9's in parallel (if they are 4 ohm) to the 2 channel amp, which would give them in the neigborhood of 160 watts (you could always turn down the gain if its too much) and bridge the 4 channel amp to the front components, which will give them more power (about 200 watts)

you have to remember that MORE POWER IS BETTER

Having more power gives you system more flexibility and dynamic headroom. you have the option of upgrading later and dynamic headroom is the ability of the amp to have to not be running at full power at all the time.

suppose you are out running a race and you are keeping a fast pace, but you are working really hard to keep that pace. so when you are nearing the finish line and it is time to sprint to the end you fall flat on your face. same goes for amps. with more power, when it comes time for that sprint, they will have more on tap, leaving you will a more musical acoustic reproduction.

lol, no, I haven't gotten any of the amps yet. You know, I think you guys are right... I'll run the 6x9's in 2 ohm fashion, wired in parallel, on the 340 amp...

My buddy just had to send his M500 to alpine after owning it for about 5 weeks.

The old V12s were bulletproof. The new line this year seems to be flashier, but not as powerful. And from what you have said, perhaps QC has gone down as well. But that has happened to almost all the manufacturers. I'm sure some of you remember the OLD Soundstreams, PPIs and Phoenix Gold M series amps. Those amps would pound most newer amps into the ground.

you could even forget about the 2 channel amp and put the rear channels of the 4 channel on their and run them on parallel
