boss, stay away from. i'd have to say the same for volfenhagen, but havent heard as many bad responses to them. in general (and yes there are a few exceptions), you get what you pay for. with that said, what are you lookin for? amps? subs? amp wise, the jbl amps are great for cheap. subs, alpine type-r, blueprint, and adire audio are insane for the price

volfenhaugen is owned by boss. my freind has 2 12s and sound well, loud, but not two clear. they can sound clean with good amp though.
id go with memphis, audiobaun, orion, jlaudio, somthin of that nature.

I used to drive around an old Dodge Shadow, and threw in some MA Audio 5"s in the front and 5x7"s in the back. They are WAY better than stock, and better than Boss, which owns Soundstorm Labs and Volfenhagen or however it's spelt. The high ends are crisp, and they don't distort easily. I've never heard their subs, but they certainly look like they can push lots of air. The surrounds on them are huge, and probably have close to 1.5 to 2 inches excursion.
