Alpine amp and Type R, how to run it
Amp: Alpine MRD-M500
900W MAX Power
• 500W x 1 (2ohm 14.4V)
• V12 AccuClass-D™ Design
Speakers: 2 SWR-1041D
Dual 4 ohm voice coil
I want to know what is the best way to hook these up to make them pound as hard as possible.
Pics(paintshop) would be appreciated.
Thanks alot guys,
Brian

The amp is not 1 ohm stable. I was hoping to be able to run them 2 ohm. I think that I am going to go back to the guy at the shop and see if he can switch the 4 ohm type r's for 2 ohm. He sold me the amp because it was better than another one i was looking at but because he sold me the 4 ohm speakers the amp is only pushing 100-150 RMS to each speaker in stead of 250-300 RMS each speaker.

I had that amp, i hated it. if you wired it to to low of an ohm it would automatically shut off. it has no fan and it's only 500 watts i ended up getting a 750 watt kicker with a fan for cheaper. It hit's a lot harder. let me know what you think of the amp after you get it all hooked up.

The amp runs stable at 2 ohms, which is why the sell those speakers as DVC 4ohm speakers. All the installs ive seen (at our shop anyways) usually use one amp per sub with those. A friend of mine wanted two subs, so we went with two MRD-300's, and 2 R-drive 12's. It sounded great.
Youre running 10's, right? Because my friends were the 1241's... If you bring the subs back, id get one 1241D and try it out. Should sound real sweet.

see, i use a 300Wx2 @ 2ohm amp, so the way i'm wiring my dual 4ohm 10s, they'll have a 2ohm load, and the amp will power them at 300watts each... i used to have 2-200w 4ohm Xtants and they hit hard enough.... but when you got some extra cash to throw around... why not?

Well, I spoke with the guy at the shop and he doesnt have any 2 ohm type r 10's so he is going to call around and trade some 4 ohm for their 2 ohm. That way I will have twice as much power running to them and they should actually pound.
Thanks,
Brian

as good of a quality as Alpine is, i'm sure they won't last you long if they're under that much of a constant power
If you're only getting one, why not try out a 12"?

Well the guy at the shop said it was going to take a couple of weeks, man I hate small towns. So my buddy and I were messing with the amp and checking out all 10000000 different settings it has and we changed it enough that these type r's pound very well. I cant imagine how they will sound when they have the right amount of wattage running to them.
