MTX Thunder 8000 10" dual subs..are they quality?

Hey guys, I just won an auction for 2 10 inch MTX thunder 8000 woofers, they are off the 2002 shelf. I am wondering are these subs quality and will they stay good for years to come, or will they fall apart like the surrounds of my Orion Cobalt 10" DVCs? Do they hit hard, and how is their surrounds, thats pretty much what IM askin, lemme know, thanks dudes

they are mtx's top of the line, very good subs. They will pound very well if powered right. I have not seen one fall apart yet.

I've got one powered by 180 watts of generic crunch amp, and it sounds really good, no quality or durability problems. Oh yea, the chrome sub's are PIMP!

I've seen a guy with five 6000 series in a 85 Bronco II hit 164.2dB with 6 MTX amps running them.

He didn't have any other speakers in the truck, as well as no seats, carpet, and all the windows were bolted in. Even the windshield was 4 pcs. each one bolted to a steel frame.

So I'd say the 8000 series are pretty good.

The 8000 series are MTX's top of the line subs. They sound good and are great subs, but the one problem that they have is the adhesive used to adhere the dustcap onto the cone is of poor quality. After while, the glue will breakdown and the dustcap will rattle like crazy. Earlier this year,MTX realized the problem and started using a stronger adhesive. So you may or may not have a set with the new glue. We have returned numerous subs that had this problem, and MTX sent them back with new adhesive.
