No Rca's on stock radio. Converter question

Ok, im trying to wire in an amp but i have no rca's. I have heard of Hi-level coverters so you can wire it in to your speaker wires, but do they just tap into your speaker line or do you have to disconnect your speakers and wire it strait to the converter leaving me with no rears exept subs. Please reply asap im going to try to get this all done Friday AM if possible

Thanx in advance

I do believe they just "tap" into the speaker line....you should have a 4 speaker channels and the RCAs working when you are done.
