Favorite SQ Songs?
I was just wondering what some of your favorite songs are for SQ, such as tuning purposes, and just plain listening. Thanx.

Any Dave Matthews song, any Days of the New song, Episode 1 soundtrack, AS2000's 'My Disk' and 'Your Disk', USACi '02 competition disk, Jars of Clay's second album, Alisson Krause and Union Station track 1, LeAnne Rhimes - Blue.
Basically any CD with good recording that uses mainly acoustical instruments. Its practically impossible to tune off of electronic/sysnthesised stuff......

Any studio recorded Jazz will work. The sax is the toughest instrument for a speaker to reproduce and will usually show flaws or dips in a systems responce. I agree that electric/dance music is impossible to tune off of, but is great for testing imaging when deciding where to mount speakers becouse the sounds jump from right to left a lot.

I know it's an old song, but I'm old to.
David Bowie "Let's Dance"
The instruments and variation of notes in that song really bring out the imaging in a car stereo.
Just try not to laugh TOO hard until you've heard it.

The 2001 IASCA test disk is one of the most revealing I've ever heard. My system has always been fairly void of rattles & external noises.... then I played that cd. On a few tracks my car sounds TERRIBLE. Noises I've never heard with anything except those tracks. That cd makes my car sound horrible!!!

IMHO it really depends on the size of the subs and what you listen to mostly on your system..i usually tune with the competition cds that i have but that is usually only b4 a comp..other then that use your fav song..remember you have to listen to it louder then the people outside your car..so it better sound good and only you will know inside your car if that is true
