Dual 12" sub box for shelf, not well??

I'm tending to notice more and more rattles from my current sub box in the well... and I think some of it is due to the limited space between the subs and the hatch...

what I'd like to do is make a sub box for the shelf in front of the well... but don't know if there will be enough air space for a sealed box.. as i want the 'tarp' to cover the box... as if nothing is there... has anyone done something like this? or found that it's not practical?

any help would be appreciated..

currently... I am running 2 12" rockford fosgate punch subs... in a sealed box... via a ppi amp... no competitions... just something decent for tunes...

I don't think there's even enough room there for you speakers let alone boxes. Someone here did something like that and the rear view is extrememly limited. I'm going to try and reclaim some of my trunk room with a box in the spare tire and the "glove box" or whatever the hell that thing is. Should make more room for the subs to fire too.

get a box or something thats about 8 inches high, and put it above the gas tank where you're thinking about putting a sub box.. then sit in your seat and look in the rearview mirror. can you see? cause thats at least as much blockage as there'll be.. use 3/4 mdf and you've got 1.5 inches plus at the absolute minimum the depth of your driver.. which looks to be about 5-6 inches for rf punch subs.. i dont have a tarp thing, but i doubt that would fit underneath.. plus theres the fact that im pretty sure you couldnt see out your rearview...

I just put an RF Punch HE 12 in a sealed truck style box in RSCamaroIHave's Camaro today. I'll get some pics today or tomorrow to show you. We mounted the amp under his seat and he can see out the back window cuz we have the box laying flat on the shelf in the back..... I don't think he could see anything anywayz as short as he is...

first off, ditch those worthless speakers.. RFP's are for people who know nothing about car audio - no offense..

I have 2 12's in the rear well..sounds fine to me, eh..
If you MUST put it up there, get 10's, they will fit considerably
better. If you have to have the 12's, just make a custom L shaped box, put them in it, one up one out, and take out on
of the back seats - just an idea..

Looks good to me. I thought you were mounting them on the package shelf just behind the rear seats, which is never a good idea. I have a big problem with 100# sub boxes flying at my head when I have to brake hard A car is a car, the stereo is an ADD ON. Remember that. If your car makes life dangerous for yourself or anyone else in the name of good tunes, then do yourself and everyone else on the roads a favor, and buy a good HOME stereo!

well... not to be harsh... but if it's unsafe... make it safe!!! granted putting screws into the gas tank ain't the brightest idea... but neither is u'r box flying around... you can always rig some type of holder to the sides... if need be...

but... that is a good point.. one i didn't think too much about... maybe i'll just keep it in the well.. and just kill the rattles...
