Well, I have been in the Car Audio business a while and I have learned one thing. You get what you pay for. Im not saying that Legacy isnt any good, but I we did stop carrying them after only 3 months. A rule of thumb is that for a good amp, you will usually pay .50 cents per watt. I have however owned a few amps that were...lets just say... below average, but have served me well. So, If you feel that this amp will suit your need, get it. Also, I see that it is a 4 channel. I cant think of ANY mid range speakers that can actually handle 1000watts at 1 ohm. The best you will get is a 4ohm load, so see what the 4 ohm rating is...

Those Pyramid amp are too overated. Might look good on the outside but whats inside that counts. By looking at the picture it looks like a single 20a fuse. HOW THE HELL ITS GOING TO PRODUCE 1000 GIGAWATTS.

I am.

Well, I guess that depends. It's a damned fine looking paperweight, although at $200, it's an expensive way to keep your papers from blowing away. As an amp, it's absolutely worthless crap. Anybody that says different is either in denial that they bought a POS, or they have absolutely nothing to compare it to. When I was a kid I thought people were crazy for paying all that money for low powered Rockford & Kicker stuff. I got 400 watts for $150!! Then when their little 40 watt amp pounded mine into the ground I started to realize the difference.

I'll put my 30x4 Pioneer up against that legacy any day, and Pioneer is hardly top-shelf stuff. What makes this a great comparison is that the pioneer, dispite being rated at substantially less power, is in the same price range. What you'll find is that the pioneer will sound substantially better, will be far more reliable, and will produce more undistorted output.

I'm sure the amp isn't that bad, as long as the volume is turned almost all the way down!

All anyone has to do is find a price on a "big name" amp with those same specs- and the price difference will tell you what's up. $10 price difference? They're probably about the same. $700 price difference? You get the idea.

is it just me, or do they always seem to make the "cheap" amps look so appealing, cool design, makes it look real good. I mean it seems like the good amps, like rockford and kicker, they dont look like any outstanding, but like someone above said, morally it is what is on the inside that matters.

If it doesen't perform, make it look like it does.

My amps are going to cost me $2.33 per watt (Memphis). Go with a good amp, those cheap "internet special" amps are worthless. They blow up and overheat all the time and never put out their rated power. 250x4 is a joke, especially for under $200. Go look at brands that back their name and have been in the buisness for years. These are the amps that will last and put out more than they are rated at. Some brands I'd be willing to put my money on are Memphis, Eclipse, PPI, Xtant, Alpine, a/d/s/, and a few others. Let's not start another post where everone who looks at it says a differant brand.

Legacy amps are ****!!!!!! They say 1000 watts but they mean 100 watts... My buddy has a Kaption SPL 15" sub he was pushing with a Pyramid 250 watt piece of crap amp.... He bought the 1000 watt Legacy thinkin it was a killer deal and would be loud... He hooked it up and that amp was pushing maybe 150 watts at full volume... It was brutal, the pyramid amp hit so much harder... And pyramid is ****...

Haha, you sure it's new? I got a hold of two "Thump" amps (Mobile Authority, same deal as Pyramid/Legacy/Boss/etc), and wanted to know the wattage. The mobile authority website had no info on my old amp, so I emailed the guy.

He basically told me to look at the new amps, and if the external design was similar to my old amp, then it's probably the same rating!! He said they don't really change the insides of the amps, just the outside appearance. So what you think is "brand new" could be a +5 year old design!
