'89 z 75% complete
here are some pics of the maro, I picked it up for a grand and sold $550 worth of aftermarket parts that came with it. What the guy didnt know is that it had a ktre 12 bolt with 3.73s a posi and a working 700 trans! What do you guys think? Please be critical. I was thinking of changing the stripes they are a little too much. PS I just ordered high polished 17x11 17x9.5 zr1s. And that fp gauge on the hood is gone. By the way those 4 weld scorpios are for sale (tires are trash)

I would keep the stripes.
But hey, it's your car and if you dont like em, take them of.

What heads are those, Edelbrock Perf RPM's? Car looks good but I would change the stripes to the Heritage style. You might want to install a non A/C box or at least button up those holes in the firewall. All the fumes will come straight in, ask me how I know

Re: '89 z 75% complete
looks pretty nice, the hood has a rather large gap to the front bumper cover tho and the front gfx looks loose or something with the gap it has.. why not pcv valve? Looks like a nice project, you really lucked out with the 12 bolt!

Yeah i did notice that gap between the hood and the bumper cover do you have any suggestions on how to close that? its a harwood fiberglass piece. And the gfx are not bolted up yet. What is the advantage of running pcv? There is no shot Im passing emissions

Heritage stripes look 10 times better on our cars that normal stripes, they're better suited for classic muscle cars, IMO.

Re: '89 z 75% complete
I say leave the stripes and fix the hood gap and itll look sweet. Not many people have the down the bumper stripes so its good to see every once in awhile.

Re: '89 z 75% complete
I was initally going to run a heater thats why the lines are connected but at this point i am considering not running a heater because the car will only be driven once or twice a week.
thanks for everyones input i really appreciate it
PS, now that i know what they look like... the heritage stripes definately look classier
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fill that gap between the hood and the bumper cover? it looks like harwood just had a bad design on the shape of the front lip of the hood. Will I have to get a body shop to smooth the front of the hood?

For the hood gap screw the black plastic ***** down on both sides then back off the two bolts on the latch lower the latch as far as it will go place a rag on the bumper cover where the hood will make contact and adj as necessary. On a side note the large lip on the front of the hood has to be gruond off.

Really need to run a PCV valve. Takes some pressure off piston rings from gases that build up in your crankcase. Run if off good vacum source like at rear of carb or intake. With out a PCV valve you could have blowback from the crankcase gas buildup, not good for rings and gaskets on engine.

I can't tell from the photo of your motor but sometimes on aftermarket intakes they have a threaded hole on the intake plenurm that may have a threaded plug in it. As for running a tee off the rear of the carb, it may be ok or not ok. I don't know if using two devices on that port will affect your brake booster performance. You can try and see. You want the crankcase gases to be burned off, that's why you need to go into the intake/plenurm area.

Re: '89 z 75% complete
BTW, noticed in the pic you have breathers on the valve covers. This will suffice also for proper ventilation of the engine, however sometimes you can get odors underhood and possible oiling of the valve covers. With a new motor like you have, you won't likely have this issue. Should have noticed before, my bad.
