need help on a z28 5 speed
I know this isn't really the place to post this but I wasn't sure where to post. But here it is. I came across a car today, and I wanted to know the value of the car. It's a z28 5.0 H.O, with an original 5 speed tranny, T-tops, original motor. it's got racing bucket seats, cragar rims, with fat tires, a hurst shifter, some rust and car has been sitting for 6 months, it runs but hesitates because of old gas and the carb needs to be replaced or rebuilt. It drives smooth, but like i said it hesitates. It's dirty from sitting and the t-tops leak pretty bad. But the car would be a good project i think. I talked him down to $2000. And I wanted to know if I would be making a good buy. I'm pretty sure it is, but I need to know.

Truly, if this is the car (body style) you really want.... do some research. Be prepared to walk away and stay firm on a price. Personally I think $2000 is a LOT for that car. There are a lot of "HO" (High output) cars out there that aren't. You can easily dump a few thousand in that car to get it back to where it would look stock or dump another few grand into making it look like a race car & perform like one. The car seems like it had an idenity crisis going on. Wait and find one for about the same money in better shape. For me, being older, I would not even consider that car for $2000, maybe not even for a $1000 UNLESS everything was tight. You can buy some really nice thirdgens for under $3000. I understand that a budget is something you have to work with but if $2000 is your budget and this is THE CAR you want.... Offer him $1500 (have it on you IN CASH) show it to them and if they say no. Leave your number and walk. They will call and take your $1500 for sure. If not, they are a fool.
