Car: 1992 Formula/2008 Mazda6
Engine: 305 5.0L TBI/2.3L tuned
Transmission: 700R4/5-speed auto
1989 Camaro RS
Asking $1800 OBO; I'd prefer trading for a Trans Am or another RS/Iroc-Z of equal status (Needs a V8), located in Goshen, in northern Indiana.
189,XXX miles, 305 TBI 5.0L V8, 700R4 Automatic transmission. Burgundy color with black hood and hatch. Has T-tops, but they leak if rain is coming down at an angle.
The good:
-New 8mm wires
-New Bosch platinum plugs
-New front and rear tires
-New distributor rotor and cap
-New rear driver's side brake line
-New FRAM air filter
-Oil changed frequently since purchase this past May
-Runs great, shifts fine when cold
-Exhaust sounds decent; False straight pipes.
-Replaced ECM
-Has fiberglass/lightweight Iroc-Z imitation hood.
-Lights all work
-Has seat covers to hide the tear in the driver's side seat
-Temperature controls work good
The bad:
-Car takes about 6-10 seconds to start from being cold. Idles fine when cold, but idles too low when warm. Will die when coming to a stop, so you have to straddle the gas.
-Transmission acts fine when cold and shifts great, but shifts extremely horribly when fully warmed up. Once warmed up, shifts into 2-3 gears at once until at 15mph, then shifts into 4th, almost killing the engine. I have no idea what the problem is, other than it has issues when WARMED UP.
-Takes 2-4 seconds to shift into OD or D.
-Could use new front rotors and pads
-Needs a front end alignment
-Paint could be redone
-Nose needs a little bit of work
-Fan always runs with ignition on
-Eats a little bit of oil; I see a little blue smoke on start-up.
-Hood needs to be adjusted to fit better; It also has a piece missing by the passenger side rear of the hood
-Will not have a radio in it; I'll be taking it out.
-Headliner is falling a little
-Has 3 small rust holes on the body
I'm just tired of this car giving me problems. I don't have any idea what's wrong with it (I do, but no one wants to listen to me), and if it's the transmission, I'm done with it. I love it to death, but I've had enough. I'd prefer to trade for another thirdgen with a V8 that won't die on me when I come to a stop...I have to use both my feet to keep it alive. Will die randomly when idling in park, too. Just have to start it back up...then it might die again. Will run for long periods if it's feeling up to it. This car is just too temperamental.
I give up. $1800 OBO, prefer to trade for another V8 Automatic third gen.

Re: 1989 Camaro RS
Sadly...I traded it in the past January. Sorry for such a late response; My life has been busy with me going to get married in less than a week.
I would have loved to sell it to you, instead of seeing it auctioned off the week after I traded it in.

Re: 1989 Camaro RS
I know I'm replying to a very old thread I made, but I changed the fuel filter when I got the car. Never did anything.
