[MI] 91 Z28 Camaro 350/Auto

91 Z28 Camaro 350/Auto
91 Z28 For Sale in Metro Detroit area.
Good exterior condition, very minimal rust. Front and rear valances could use a little TLC but not bad. T-Tops do not leak. Interior pretty nice as well with only a couple minor things.
Rebuilt original 350 TPI motor. Originally a 700R4, now a TH350 with B&M ratchet shifter. Limited slip disc brake rear end. ZZ4 cam with Isky valve springs, adjustable FPR, Flowmaster exhaust.
Runs decent although a bit of adjustment and TLC would make her 100%.
Basically it's a car I bought a couple years ago for a summer ride but now need to fund another project.
Looking for $2500 out of her.

T-Top + L98 350? Hmmm... can you verify it's a L98 5.7 motor, or has this car had a motor swap in the past?

Re: 91 Z28 Camaro 350/Auto
Car's rear valance says "5.7 Tuned Port Injection", it is positively an L98 350 in it, and it has the MAP fuel system like these years should. I've never been asked to verify it, but maybe I can get a dealer to double check if you're interested.
Odometer reads something like 110k, although the speedo reads slow (I'm supposing the proper speedo gear wasn't installed during the trans swap, easy fix that I never got aroud to), so it could be a few more than that.

Re: 91 Z28 Camaro 350/Auto
Look for the 8th digit of the VIN. If it's "E" then it was a factory L98 350 car (this is the quickest way to verify and probably all a dealership is going to do to verify also). Free bump, good luck with the sale.

First 8 digits of the VIN are 1G1FP238
8th digit of the VIN is an 8, doing a bit of research online shows it to be a 350 from the factory rated for 245 hp:
__1991_____________1992__
8 350-245 (B2L) 8 350-245 (B2L)
E 305-170 (L03) E 305-170 (L03)
F 305-205 (LB9) F 305-205 (LB9)
T 191-140 (LH0) T 191-140 (LH0)

Re: 91 Z28 Camaro 350/Auto
Yep sorry you are correct. E was the 305 in the RS's. 8 is the 350. Good Luck.

Re: 91 Z28 Camaro 350/Auto
Can you please email me more pictures at camcovert@cableone.net
Thank You. I am interested.
Could very well be an aftermarket T-Top conversion. My RedZ28 in my sig is a factory L98 hardtop car, but had the T-Top conversion done soon after first owner purchased it.

Would you post a pic of the SPID? (Service Parts ID).

Re: 91 Z28 Camaro 350/Auto
The RPO tag seems to be AWOL on this particular car. It isn't in the center console anywhere and the lockable back compartment has nothing there either. Sorry about that; is a factory built 350/T-top car something of an anomaly in the third gens?

Re: 91 Z28 Camaro 350/Auto
Sometimes the RPO sheet is located under the driver or passenger seat. however the "official" location on the 91-92 Camaro's is on the back of the rear hatch glove box lid.
To answer you questions about the 5.7L T-top thing. Yes it would be an anomaly.... supposedly the 5.7L was not available to anything but the coupe. There are of course 5.7L T-Top cars that are original but they had dealer conversions done. Same with the Verts, there were no factory Verts made with a 5.7L if you find an original one it was a dealer conversion not a factory car. I believe the intent of the RPO request is to Determine if the car had Factory T-tops with the 5.7L. Since the VIN indicates it had the B2L motor (5.7L) the main thing of interest would be to see if it had the CC1 option which would be "Roof Panels, Removable Glass". If these options are on the sheet with you matching VIN and the 10th digit of your VIN is "M" (91) or "N" (92) then you would have an anomaly and a pretty rare find. Your dealership maybe able to pull up the RPO sheet by using the VIN, though keep in mind most dealerships purge any information except required information on cars 10-20 years old. Hope this helps.
