83 z28 brake upgrade
Hi am new to he 3rd gen Camaro and have just bought a z28 project..
am building up a 400 small block and am worrying about how the front brakes will take this... I would like to keep the normal z28 wheel, what options do I have? no track work have a race car for that, so just a bit of fun on the street

Re: 83 z28 brake upgrade
I agree for your intended usage (street driving) a properly functioning stock brake system should work GREAT!

Good quality replacement stock parts sound fine here.
Use quality solid rotors, nothin fancy needed there.
A good semi-metallic pad. Currently using Centric and have had good results.
New flex lines all round, braided is a good choice here.
A few pints of new brake fluid, and a good flush will do wonders.
Check and adjust rear drums, r&r if needed. Aluminum drums are neat if ya got them.
Cheap, easy, will easily provide enough braking power to lock 15's up.

Re: 83 z28 brake upgrade
I know what you meant. I'm running a 400 with a blower....with pretty much stock brakes...stock discs on front, bigger Ford drums on the rear....no issues stopping.
Again, unless you plan on road racing in conditions where you're applying brakes constantly and overheating rotors, or you need to stop quickly from high speeds all the time, the stock brakes should do fine.
