ls1 calipers with z51 rotor?

Ok so I have found out I can use the z51 rotors with ls1 calipers and a different bracket as stated from another thread.

My questions are can I use the same ls1 abutment bracket or do I need the z51 one?

Will all the parts from an ls1 upgrade be the same minus the caliper mounting bracket and rotor?

I will be looking forward to 13.5" rotors under my 18" irocs they will look sweet!!!

I have the ls1 calipers and abutment brackets already. I already rebuilt and powder coated them for my car.

Re: ls1 calipers with z51 rotor?

I've been looking into doing this as I'd like to upgrade the rotor diameter. To do this need to use the LS1 caliper abutment bracket.

Then use a custom (hybrid) bracket for the larger rotor. This thread contains the bracket template:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brak...pers-17-a.html

From another thread that I can't find at the moment, the C5 and LS1 abutments don't interchange.

I have that bracket drawing from that thread. I am going to have a local machine shop cut the brackets out for me from the drawing.

Thanks for the reply I will post progress in here but it might be a while. Just wanted to make sure everything else was the same as generic ls1 upgrade other then rotors and brackets.

If possible I'd make a cardboard cutout of the bracket and test fit it. I say this as I'm not sure if anyone has used that bracket template yet. Never hurts to double check stuff.

The Z51 13.4" rotor is not as tall as the LS1 rotor by about 1/4". So some spacers will be required to center the caliper over the rotor.

Ok so this has not been done by anyone yet?

Good point I will make a template first to see. I am in the middle of some shop renovations and I cant make my car immobile just yet.
