Custom brake lines and fittings help

I am planning to run stainless steel hard lines for brakes and stainless braided lines to the calipers. Is 3/16" good or do I need 1/4" I am building a procharged 383 lt1 with around 650-700 hp. 4 wheel wilwood disc brakes with 13" front and 12.9" rear rotors. 6 piston front calipers and 4 piston rear calipers.

Also need help on type of fittings to use. I read someone 37 degree flared is what I should be using. Any more info on this?

Also, where would be a good place to buy everything? I would prefer to buy everything from a single source unless there is a huge savings from splitting up parts.

i have a wilwood master cylinder, and proportioning valve, and an SLP line lock for the front brakes.

Re: Custom brake lines and fittings help

You just need a GOOD flaring tool to make the flares you need. Nobody makes a kit for use with your vehicle with Wilwoods all around-been there done that on a 66 Chevelle. Your wilwood MC should have come with fittings and the propr valve comes with two NPT to inverted flare fittings too. You can run 3/16 for all of it and you will be fine. When you build your ends, you need to use a cutter not a hacksaw, then use a flat fine file to file the end, radius the outer edges, then use a line reamer to de-burr the inner edge of the newly cut line-this process is critical to getting a good flare which will seal well. You want to practice with some scrap 3/16 first. I build all my own lines in my shop and while it isn't hard, you need to be patient with it. I form mock-ups using steel wire to get all my bends right, then I take it all out and carefully bend my actual lines accordingly. Btw, stainless is VERY hard to flare to you better be ready to shell out good money for a nice flaring kit. I think mine was $160 from Matco and does iso metric ends as well as inverted flare.

Re: Custom brake lines and fittings help

Thanks for the info. I might have some help from the shop doing my body work. The owner is going to flare the lines for me and probably bend them as well if I bring him something. metal wire is a good idea to get everything set for them to make it all up for me. I am going to use 37 degree single flares with AN fittings.
