Rear caliper recall kit worked great 4 years ago but!!!

OK I did the recall kit rebuild about 4 years ago and now i need new pads (by the way the kit worked great never a problem since i did it) but I don't know how to push the piston back in the caliper so the new pads will fit on the rotors i don't want to tear one apart to see what is stopping it and i don't remember whats inside it since its been so long ago. so can anyone please help me with this. I really need this back on the road asap and need to get my 01 Monte Carlo in the garage to some work on it too. It never ends always something to work on.LOL
Their is no other site like this on on the net I really love it. It has saved me so much time and money.

Screw the piston into the caliper to retract it.

You have to apply pressure to it as your turn it back in.

Re: Rear caliper recall kit worked great 4 years ago but!!!

Ok just wanted to let everyone know that it worked in case someone else had this problem. I put the c-clamp on it and put pressure one it and turned the piston in, I had to turn the c-clamp every time i did this. I tried to do this by hand but it wasn't enough pressure to make it go in. I have one side done and going out to get the other side done now. Thanks Apeiron for you help

There's a tool made that presses and screws the piston at the same time.

Re: Rear caliper recall kit worked great 4 years ago but!!!

Just for reference....is the correct 'recall kit" for our cars part number 18019028 from GM parts direct??

Also what do u mean by screwing it in??....I understand how to apply pressure with the c clamp, but i dont see where you screw something in or out to get the piston out.

That's the right PN for the kit.

The piston moves like a screw. turn the piston as you apply the c clamp pressure.
