The Mechanic Said He'd Never Seen It Before...

So we take my '89 T/A (resto project) to the shop today to get the front wheel bearings replaced (it'd been making an awful grinding noise for the last few hundred miles). The mechanic said he'd never seen anything like it in all his years. Amazing the front wheel didn't fall off eh?

You're not seeing things - that be one busted rotor.

Looks nasty, but couldn't really have fallen off with the spindle nut holding it at least.

Luke

I believe they were replacements - the rotor itself was still in fair condition with little wear. I doubt very much they were OEM.

Pull your wheel off - look for metal dust in and around the wheel bearing cap.

With the exception of a little rust on the bearing, it was still in fine shape.
