Please educate me
I just bought an 88 Iroc and now it wont pass inspecton. It failed the brake test. The parking brake wont hold pressure. Do you have any advice or previous encounters? Thank-you very much.
How do I know if I got that 1le brake package?

Welcome to the boards, lots of good info here.
You won't have a 1LE. There were only 4 1LE cars made in '88 so the odds of that are slim to none.
Your issue is with the rear calipers. They have a poorly designed internal parking brake mechanism that will freeze up over time unless it is used regularly. My advice would be to do one of two things:
1- Rebuild your rear calipers using the "recall kit", Gm part number 18019028 (search "recall kit")
2- Upgrade the rear brakes to "1LE" spec rear brakes from an '89-97 car and take car of the problem altogether.
