I stripped one Caliper Mounting bolt on 91 firebird..what now?
In the process of replacing my front brake pads, I stripped out the upper caliper mounting bolt....any one know a way to get it off? Those bolts were on soooo freaking tight. I had to use my foot to push on the wrench to get the bottom one off. The top one stripped out when attempting to use an extention on the end on my wrench to allow me more torque.
They are 3/8" Hex....well, that is what this one started as.
I am stuck right now in the middle of a mess. Please help. I can't get that damn bolt out to change the pads.

Thank you in advance.

Nevermind Got it...
I ended up turning my steering wheel so that I could get a better angle at the bolt on the caliper. I then hammered my 3/8" hex bit into the bolt, pulled so hard I pooped in my pants and was able to get it to break loose.
The other 3 came off just fine and the job is now done. Drove it around the block....no pig squeals...nice.

If you have access to a welder, weld a nut onto the bolt. If you don't spray PB blaster or other penetrating lube on it and lit it sit for awhile. Another good trick I have found over the years is to use a grinder and grind down the bolt until it is a rectangle and put a wrench on it. I am not sure if it would work for this bolt though because the socket goes on the inside not the outside.
EDIT: didn't bother to read that you already got it out... oh well

TIP: if you melt wax and it it on the threads. it will seep in and help loosen things up. also, hot/cold hot/cold.. will sometimes break em loose
welding is a pita until you get good at it.. because u usually dont weld it solid enough and it breaks off again.

Something that works everytime for me when nuts are dumbass hard to get loose is to heat them up so they glow with the "gaswelder" then put cold water on the nut makes them come loose every time.
So no need to poop in the pants
