1988 Rear Disc Anti-rattle Clip

I HAVE A 1988 REAREND WITH DISC BRAKES AND NOTICED THAT THE INNER BRAKE PADS RATTLE. I UNDERSTAND FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT AN ANTI-RATTLE CLIP CAN BE PURCHASED THAT LOOKS LIKE A CIRCULAR-SHAPED WIRE AND APPEARS TO MOUNT TO A GROOVE AROUND THE CALIPER PISTON END. HOWEVER, WHEN THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED THESE CLIPS A DIFFERENT VERSION WAS SENT (SAME PART NUMBER) AND LOOK NOTHING AT ALL LIKE THE PICTURE SHOWN TO ME BY THE DEALERSHIP. THESE CLIPS LOOK LIKE A ROUND STEEL RING WITH FOUR TABS ON THE INSIDE OF THE RING AND FOUR TABS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE RING. I AM WANTING TO FIND OUT HOW THESE WOULD MOUNT OR IF THEY ARE EVEN WHAT I NEED. IF THEY ARE NOT WHAT I NEED THEN HOW CAN I GET THE CORRECT ANTI-RATTLE CLIPS? THANX!

Yes GM changed the design of the clip from a spring temper wire to a sheet metal clip. As I recall the angle tabs hold onto the base of the pad.

Advanced auto P/N 5534A

One kit comes with enough hardware parts to do both rear calipers. Hope that helps.

Re: 1988 Rear Disc Anti-rattle Clip

i found a rebuild kit for back calipers. I tried friday to order them, but the GM parts dude i usually go through wasnt there, just some a hole making it awkward. He put in the number and didnt find it until the third time, then i wasnt sure if it was the rite part. but i forgot the rear cylinder is actually called a actualator. Now im goin to try again and i read if the brakes make noise, its because they were redone wrong. im supposed to turn the piston not c clamp it.. anyways monday ill order. GM#18019028
