thanks, that pic helps a ton for me. So, based off that pic, those 2 holes are the only holes that have to be modified for this setup? And the 4 holes on the brackets are just drill through hole correct? ANd my rotor has to be machined down to be 5.95" in diamemter and there is no need for any other machining on the rotor correct. I though I read somewhere that the studs holes may have to be modified for the new studs.anyway though,. if they do I am sure I can figure that out. I am really hoping my dad can get that program opened. also, just for my record, what I be able to put LS1 brakes on and then upgrade to the C5 rotors easy or what Ineed a new bracket. i am looking for this answer but I may be able to score a cheap set of Ls1 brakes in about 10 minutes

Ok, my dad was able to open that file so thats good. he used Solidworks to open it. He hasnt made the bracekts yet because he is touching up the file. I guess there was a few small erros in the drawing. There was gapes in the drawing and it was only noticed when he blew it up. Anyway he says he needs more info on the 4 holes. 2 of the holes are 9/16" right? and the other 2 are .472. that would be just about a 13/32 hole. I need to know if these are clearance holes or if there will be threads in them. What bolts go through these holes?

also, that pic posted above of a bracket, isnt that the LS1 bracket and NOT the C5 one?

No thats not a C5 pictured above.

Im curious what your dad had to say about the dwg file. gapes??

The bolts for the bracket to spindle are your personal choice. Ive done some in 12mm and some in 9/16th.

.472 is 12mm

edit:

N/M I belive I know what he is talking about. if you blow it up the lines dont fully connect in some points right?

I guess my dad did a dry run on the machine to make sure the numbers where right or something and the machine stopped in the middle of the program and he couldnt figure it out. I guess he took the file and enlarged it a lot and noticed that there was a few areas where the lines had some spaces in them. the program just stopped at these locations. he went in and made the changes and all is good. This is what I gathered from him talking to me while 2 kids screamed in the background. Anyway, I want to keep as much material around that lower spindle area and with that said, what size tap would I need to use? if I use a 9/16th bolt then I would tap a 9/16th standard thread tap in the holes correct? and then there would be two 9/16th holes in the bracket right? what about the other 2 holes on the bracket?
I am also a little confused(proberbly because I dont have any parts in front of me) on the 4 holes on the bracket. If I lay this bracket on a table so it looks like a rainbow then what holes are the spindle holes? the inner, toward the center, ones?

I just dont want to have these brackets made and end up with the wrong size holes. my dad wants the size of all four holes so i am going to tell him that the 2 "inner holes" need to be 9/16" and the 2 "outer" holes are ??????? the info I have here says the bolts to use here(outer) are m14-2.0x35MM.that should bolt the abutment to the bracket. that sound right? I ve just got so much info here that I think some of it is for the LS1 stuff now

Ya I edited the above post , Prob as you were typing. about the spaces in the dwg file.

As for all the info. You should really go back and read/read/read the original C5 thread.

as for bolts this is a quote from ed I got via PM about bolts.

Bracket to spindle bolts are whatever "you" want them to be, but the brackets obviously need to be drilled for the size bolt you use. I've used both M12 and 7/16" bolts, and I use 7/16" since they're easier to find and buy, and since they're a bit smaller it leaves more metal around the lower spindle bolt hole which is a good thing. As for the bolts that hold the abutment to the bracket, they are all the same on C4 and C5, M14 x 2.0. Length will vary a bit but it's usually around 35mm under head length. The stock Vette bolts are longer but that's because they use a thicker mount in that area.
The Bracket to Spindle bolt is what ever you want like I said befor, and like ed says. Abutment bolt is M14x2.0

This is a copy and paste from a parts list on one of the websites on the swap... Deff do a search for C5 brakes on this forum. You will deff find way more on the info.. Ive spent hours reading up on it all. esp looking for what size adapter i need for my ZR1 rims.

I need some help for a simple problem. I'm about done with my brake upgrade. When I bought my calpiers they came with some pads but they did not come with all the metal clips I saw in a auction on ebay. I take it those clips are for putting in the pads. What are they and how do they go in. I assume I'm goingto have to buy new pads to get the clips. Some pic's of how they go in would be helpful. Thanks

PS removing the red coating on the zo6 calipers is a PITA. I had them soaking in MEK for 3 days. One of the calipers, almost all of it finally came off. the other only about half of it. I'm going to have to waste time in the blasting cabinet to finish. I'm planning on powdercoating them a differant color. Should have just left them be........

you need the C5 stuff. But since you've already got your spindles modified you've got half the work done. Check out the link above to todds website.
