T-top bag broken need help...

Hey guys, my t-top bag on my 92 bird broke this weekend. The teeth on the zipper finally gave out. Anyways, now it won't unzip. Anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions? How much does one go for in a junkyard, does anywhere online sell em? Its fixing to get hot and I want to take out my t-tops! Are all the t-top bags the same on 3rdgens? Would a t-top bag from a 89 bird fit?

My 84 uses velcro to close the t-top bags. Starting in 1985, I believe GM started using zippers.

Personally, I like the velcro. If it rips, you can sew in new velcro strips, and no red-hot zippers to burn your fingers on....

T-top bags are for sale all the time on ebay. Final price is usually around $40-$50.

You can take the bag to an upholstery shop and they can sew in a new zipper.

I went to a fabric store (warehouse) and got a zipper that matched the one that was on my bag. You'll need about 12 feet, and don't forget the metal thing that keeps the zipper from going past the end. Then talked my girlfriend into sewing it in for me. It works fantastic. Cheaper than $40-$50 for a new bag and took less time.

In your hatch area are 4 metal latching points, 2 near the back of the seat and 2 coming through the inside plastic by the tailights. The bag has 4 "j" shaped latches that hook to these 4 points and secure the bag in your hatch area. The t-tops fit inside this bag, seperated by a protective cloth/vinyl sheet. The bags are secured inside by either velcro or a zipper.

I have had three 3rd gens, this is the only one that still had the original bag. The bags are prone to ripping and damage. What I did in the past, was to take an old blanket and fold the t-tops into it. If you need pictures I'm sure I could arrange that. Let me know.

I got mine for like 20$ but the straps were coming off and they were faded blue. Used some shoe polish and I have a real nice grandma, so I got off pretty cheap. :-)
