Drivers side mirror assembly
How hard is it to replace the drivers side mirror assembly? I have a cracked mirror and have a replacement on order but I'm not sure if I should tackle trying to change it out myself or take it somewhere to do it. It is the manual remote type with the little lever on the door not a motorized type.
Any info would be appreciated!

Are you asking about replacing the entire assembly or just the glass?
To replace the entire assembly:
Take off the door panel. The stick is held onto the plastic by a metal plate. Turn it 90* and it will come out, that frees the stick. Once you have the door panel off, assuming you have rolled down the window, you'll see the triangle at the front is held in by two 10mm nuts at the top of the door, and a bolt about halfway down the door. Remove those nuts and bolt, and either remove that assembly or move it out of the way, the 2 nuts holding the mirror are behind it. Remove the 2 nuts, work the cable through the door and out and its off.
Installation is reverse of removal. Don't forget the plastic plate between the mirror and the door.
If you are just replacing the glass, I think you have to break the old one off with a hammer and glue the new on.

I guess I have 2 problems.
Problem 1: The mirror is cracked
Problem 2: The cable is rusted inside so I don't get full adjustment of the mirror. It's by messing around and trying to free up the cable is how Problem 1 happened.
Can I remove the mirror and cable from the housing or do I need to replace the housing too?

Don't have much experience with mirrors here, but last year mine would vibrate when driving and looking through it, everything was blurry. Found that a screw had fallen out and made the mirror loose.....you have to just turn the mirror at the right angle and you should be able to see the screws behind the glass. iI imagine that there are 2 in there.

Yeah my passenger mirror glass is gone, i just got a whole assembly from a junk yard for 20bucks, and all I'm trying to get is the glass. Should I just break glass off or what. I need it to pass inspection.

I paid $28 to have new glass in my mirrors, both sides. Actually made it look better because there no longer all scratched up.
As far as the mirror assembly I would consider fitting your doors with electric mirrors if you find them in the junkyard. You just need the wireing, switch, mirror assemblies. Pretty easy and nice upgrade.
