You could do that, but how would you get to the **** to adjust the time? Now I know why there's that little depression in the front of the console compartment.
Is that the one currently on ebay? The lens looks kinda jacked up.
I like the look of the clock though. But its placement down in the console makes it hard to read at a glance.

So you're going to cut a hole in a panel that would require disassembling the entire dash, so that you can install a tacky 15-20 year old poorly designed clock?
Think about this a bit, don't you think you'd feel like just a little bit of an idiot if it broke? Not to mention the problem of how you'd set it. Doesn't your radio/cd player already have a clock? This is one of those parts that doesnt have any purpose other than to make the car look cool. It didn't catch on in 1982 when everyone was high on all things tacky. If you're bound and determined and you're going to love your car only after installing the clock, go ahead but keep in mind what you might think about the clock in another year or two.

I like my clock. At first I planned on yanking it and making a cup holder, but it grew on me. I even bought a spare. I think it would insanely stupid anywhere besides the center console though. Plus, I don't know if there's a lot of room behind the dash under the vents, so it would have to stick out, which would look horrible.

Whut is the stock location of a clock? I wanted one in my car for a long time. When your at the beach all day you never bring a watch....it is nice to know when happy hour is

My clock didn't work until I removed it, blew out the internals with canned air, soaked them with WD-40, and throughly worked the hands. It's still functioning perfectly after several years. By the way, when I swapped high-intensity xenon bulbs into my cluster and A/C controls, I also did the clock. Big improvement.
It's my belief (and this was hashed about once upon a time in another forum) that the clock was installed in cars with an AM radio because the latter didn't have a digital clock. On the other hand, who really knows? We are talking about GM after all.

Yes, that clock came with cars that had AM radios. I believe it was available as a separate option, but virtually no cars ordered it. I've only seen it with AM Radio cars.

For the bulbs, try the following web site: http://members.aol.com/rmacewen1/
The bulb sockets are simple twist out, twist in from the back side of the cluster. Once removed, as I recall, you only need remove the old bulbs from their sockets and swap the xenons in. Five minute job. More info on the number needed on the web site. Don't forget to add a bulb for the AC/heater control.

Car: 82 Camaro Z28

if ur dead set on having the clock in the dash under the vents, its alot of work.. take the complete dash out, measure it to make sure it will fit infront of the ac vents (whih i highly doubt that it will), cut a hole.. make sure u have access to change the time on it.. reasemble the dash..
stock w/ am radio had the clock?? i highly doubt that.. my 83 still had the factory 8-track & am radio (last year it was aviable) when i got it.. no clock in the center console.. ive always known there was an option for it, but still have never seen it in person.. just in pictures
