To moderator 1991tealRSt-topGuy

You know ever since I first came to this board I have been trying to help people out with any new ideas they have as far as the appearance of their 3rd gen Camaro. You would think as a moderator you would try to control out of control threads and stop people from bashing and flaming eachother. In that last thread not only did you let people bash the guy verbally, when I tried to tell them to stop it and grow up, you bashed me and then locked the thread. I dont know what kind of moderator you are but I don't think moderators should use their powers to degrade people. But anyway, since you attacked me so personally, I thought I should give you a little background on why I post what I post. Then maybe you can get an idea of why I'm so disgusted with you as a whole, and why I am pobably going to stop contributing to your board. From what I see, most of the appearance body/interior modification you guys do are very basic. The extent of appearance mods for a 3rd gen seem to be a new hood, blackouts, and new wheels .... for the interior its usually some new guages, a new shifter, and a new steeringwheel. All that stuff is great ... but after what I've seen ... very basic. I come from the sport truck community where people commonly invest over 20 grand into their ride. In the sport truck community you will find people that have totally changed the appearance of their ride, people who have taken their ride to the next level as far as the appearance. So when I come to this board I try to bring some of that with me and help other 3rd gen owners take their 3rd gen to the next level. Every time I reply in a post about a new original modification (rice or not), most of the people flame me and disrespect me. It seems that the basic 3rd gen mods have been written in stone and nobody wants to see anything new. Well I'm sorry for trying to help you guys out. I didn;t know that everyone would fight me tooth and nail to keep my car STOCK LOOKING. I still intend to invest over 20 grand into my 3rd gen weather you guys like it or not ... but documenting my progress for thirdgen.org or trying to help other people will probably not happen. I have never seen a car community as closed minded as you guys. There are a few exception but the majority act this way. New ideas are instantly flamed and bashed and called RICE. You know, I can't believe had actually planned to keep the CAD plans of my custom headlight/taillight/mirror fillerplates and manufacture more for thirdgen.org so everyone could put custom lights and mirrors on their cars. Forget it already!!! .. So I would just like to say I feel sorry for all of you who are close minded ... I feel sorry that basic mods are all you are capable of. So flame me all u want and lock this thread ... you have disgusted a thirdgen member to the point where they dont want to deal with you anymore. And no I dont care what you think.

And just for your reference, I'm 6'5" 255 pounds and I train MMA 3 times a week .. hardly a Little Man.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one.

I cannot believe that a moderator would act in such a way.

I'm am also fairly dissapointed at the attitudes of a lot of people on this board. I am not adovacating that everyone agree on everything, but some of you are starting to drive me away from the site.

Ya we all like to crack jokes and stuff, but some of you go way too far. For a moderator to degrade multiple people on this board is rediculous. I have reported the post to Dirk.

This post will probably get deleted, but at least we got a little message out...

I agree with CrazyHawaiian. If he wants to do that to his car then that is his business. The import and truck scene is really great too! I love the movie Fast & Furious and have watched it with my son on DVD now several times. That Eclipse, RX7, Supra and the Charger are bada$$ and you know it. I love smokey and the bandit too though. OPEN YOUR MINDS!!!! Stock is easy and takes NO imagination.

i can only say one thing

i am the type of person who believes strongly in things

if i have upset you, well, theres nothing i can do about that

as for the type of person i am personaly, i am going to be honest with you...........i dont like "todays" style

i'm not the type of person who will go out and buy an import or have a big bass system in their car........

what i like in life........classic muscle and sports cars, harley davidsons, classic rock and heavy metal

i am far from todays generation

i have long hair, wear tight Levi's and a motorcycle jacket

i don't like "todays" style.........and guess i'm not affraid to admit that

i am the type of person who is persistent for what he believes in

which would obviously be.....our great country and the things that represent it

now, i know i was wrong to go and say that stuff, but to me, i feel i have to make my stand for what i truely believe in..........because thats the type of person i am

i guess you can say i am conservative

but thats your generations view on my generations way

i think this may be a problem, this generation gap

because for my generation, i am an extremist

i hope you understand

as for opening my mind, you if you see my mind as closed, well, your not going to be seeing it open anytime soon

i honestly cannot stand lowrider trucks........thats just my preference, i dont care if their chevy or toyota, its not my thing

to me, putting stuff on our cars like this is no better than siding with the enemy

i mean, now more than ever, what is a muscle cars competiton?

imports

and here we are wanting to dress like the competition

i pray that none of you defend this country, for i can easily see you siding with the enemy

i'm sorry to say that, but thats the BEST analogy that i could give

if you hate me, so be it, I really dont care

because where i come from, i have my true friends and we share similar beliefs

but if you think that makes for a boring life, you've got another thing comming

if you think this will get me to change, i'm sorry but it wont

i am who i am, my beliefs are my beliefs

you preach about letting people have their own opinion

but you wont let me have my own

there is a loss of justice right there

i let people have their opinion

but when people ask for my opinion

well, you shouldnt ask a question if your not going to like the answer your going to get

goodnight for now

no mater what, i would think that a MODERATOR would have been able to follow some simple rules layed down by the board for the benefit all, your board or not. you are considred a leader on third gen message board and a person in control and should be one that leads by example (nice job)

crazyhawiian kj rock and mtccl are right and i am with you.

I hate to jump right in the middle like this, but I'll have to say I agree with CrazyHawaiian, mtccl, and Kj Rockz in that the moderator of a board should be open minded, but can also have their own opinions. Myself, I'm only 18 years old, but I like stuff from both generations such as the classic rock and the musclecars, but living in this generation, I like the stuff from today also. I've seen all sorts of cars, from classic restorations to slammed trucks, and I'm interested in all of them. Everyone has good ideas, and these are our cars, and we go out and work to make the money to modify them, and having a place like this board to collaborate with others to see if they have similar tastes is a good idea. You could say that everything that is incorporated into cars today, even our cars helps to broaden the hobby. I've seen levels of customization and detail in slammed trucks and imports that is astonishing, and incorporating this detail into our own cars in our own tastes is good. If you like something, go for it. Everything that we do costs time, hard work, and money, and when it's done you can stand back and say, "Yea, that's mine. I did it myself and I did it just the way I wanted it." Bottom line is, that no matter how you feel about someones car, it's their car, and if they're happy with it, who is someone else with different tastes to put them down?

1991tealRSt-topGuy, it was my understanding that personal attacks, " flames" and derogatory comments are not permitted in the boards. Moderators have been assigned to the boards to check the posts and verify that rule violations are identified and the due punishments for those violations are rendered. When a moderator starts posting personal attacks, it should be taken as such a serious violation of the rules, that maybe the moderator needs to lose their status to avoid soiling the boards reputation.

I followed the original post and could not believe that a moderator posted what I was reading. When I initially read this post I pm'd CrazyHawaiian to let him know I supported him. That’s the reason PM exists, to conduct personal off-topic messaging. To take a personal attack public is wrong in many aspects of the on-line society. To try and correct that wrong, CrazyHawaiian took his plight public. I still support him.

I personally think posting a bad opinion of someone's ride is a waste of my time. If I don't like vegetables, I don't eat them, it's my life. If I don't like that color and you do, more power to you.
I have my own opinions of what my car should look like and how it should run. If you can help me, do so, if not read on, as you may learn something.

This board has provided me an almost unfathomable amount of information, saving me countless man hours and dollars in the maintenance and repair of the 3 thirdgen Firebird's I have owned. Without this site, my 88 Formula would have been in a junkyard LONG before it's time card was punched for the last time.

I have said my peace. We are all adults here, whether legally or not, whether mentally or not we all still need to get along. As a moderator you are held to a higher standard, which is why you have additional privileges. I trust your moderator status will change as a result of your last few posts.

I didn't see the other thread yet. One thing I did notice though when I first started coming to this site was the word "RICE" used alot. Different opinions are not the problem. Its the bashing of those opinions that gets out of hand sometimes. I love muscle cars. No late model car will ever catch my eye the same way '70 Chevelle SS or a '71 Hemi-Cuda does. I'm not a fan of low-riders either, but I am a fan of $20K show-stoppers. Variety is the spice of life guys.

CrazyHawaiian:

I hope you don't stop contributing to the board. Fresh and different oppinions are what make any board worthwhile. Unfortuneately there are those that think they are somehow more right than others. There is nothing sacred about these cars. If someone wants to do something different, so be it. I've been moderating here for years now and have seen people come and go. It be a shame to see you go. As for the people you mentioned as moderators. They may be, but not here. This is mine and KarpTAs board. Only us, and the administrators can do board upkeep. Let me or KarpTA know if there is a problem.

peace everyone,

Bob

1991tealRSt-topGuy, instead of quotin everything ya said, I figured this would be easier. I agree with every damn thing you said. What people dont realize that the whole rice/rap/hardass people are the proverbial "enemy". These are the kids who are representing our generation, and I dont stand for it. I dont want some scum bag drivin some riced out Civic with bass you can hear from a mile away giving people the impression that all young adults today are like that. Its sad. What ever happenned to Muscle cars, Rock, and just havin a good time? Well, Ill tell you what happenned to it... People like I have discribed above killed it. People say "ohh its just music, ohh its just their car", but its not. Its an attitude, a way of life. Its a disgrace, and I dont car what anyone else says, Ill do anything in my power to show the world that "hey, were not all scumbags... some of us are good people!". Now Im not sayin that every one who listens to rap, or drives a ***** is evil. Im not sayin that AT ALL. What Im sayin is that there ARE alot of them out there.
Just my thoughts.

BTW: Hey, atleast I know im not the one wearin a leather jacket every dam day!

1991tealRSt-topGuy i have a ? for u. who exactly is the ENEMY? is it the people who tend to do the "rice" stuff to their car? or is it the people who dont agree with what u r saying? or is it the people who are just stating their opinions. personally i dont think there are any enemies on this board. yeah some people **** us off but crap its not like were gonna lay waste to them. so please dont u enemy or hate to describe someone. those are the two harshest words in the english language, especially hate.

What the hell, I'll jump in here...

Anyone that has any criticism for how this board or any of the boards on thirdgen.org are run, can submit their criticism thru email, thru private messages, and thru the forum suggestions board. Posting a thread to bitch is not only off topic, but I consider it to be rude, disrespectful, etc to both the moderator(S) and the site. Be happy you have a place to post at all. Getting everyone all excited over one post out of one thousand is rediculous and it leads to problems. If that one post ruins your day or your week and you can't sleep at night because of it, then leave.

Thirdgen.org is a resource, its privately owned and operated. Moderators don't get paid to monitor the boards and clean up other peoples messes, or to provide advice, we do it because we volunteer. I would prefer you just said thank you when you see something you like, or contribute your criticism in a healthy manner to someone that can actually do somethign about it.

Everyone has opinions, in real life everyone needs to learn to deal with that. If you can't handle criticism of your idea, don't post it.

I think this thread should be deleted, and or locked. The operation of the board is no ones business but the administrator, who in this case is Dirk.

Hello Mr Moderator. My Name is SSG Eric Beckham. I am in the U.S. Army right now I am currently Defending your right to post the post you are posting. I dont know if you have ever defended your country and everything it stands for but I am. With the way things are going on right now I spend alot of time away from my wife and my two sons and it REALLY bothers me to hear you say the things you do. If you have ever spent some time in good ol' Uncle Sams Military you would know that There is many different types of people in the Service, who have different likes and beliefs.
I love everything about the "old days" But I also love everything about the "new era".
I have a 1991 Z-28 that I love and I also have a car you WILL not like. I will post a picture of it and me . Just because someone likes something that you do not it does not mean that they are the Enemy.

Seeing how you are surely a TRUE PATRIOT and Believe in everything about the Red, White and Blue. You should Be old enough to understand that times ARE changing and if you dont try to understand you might get run over.

I love what I do and would give my life for my country, and I am sure that me and you would probably bump heads if we ever met, but just because someone does not like or care what some one else might like, does not give you the right to say the childish, bullshi+ you do....Next time you are sitting down with your family eating a warm dinner think of me in the middle of the night, cold watching my back and all of my commrads while they are getting their three hours of sleep.
