It happened to me too! Only it was a couple of months back when we had a -25 Celsius blast. Two big nasty cracks that merged into one, right smack dab in the middle of the dash

You can get the cracks repaired and they do an excellent job. I had the entire corner chipped off mine and they rebuilt it and coloured it so that it is impossible to tell. And then the middle cracks

It's -27 tonight, here in Cowtown, so you folks in the lower 48 ought to be glad you don't live where the REALLY tough men and women do--on the Canadian prairies!

It just so happened to get to -10 here in Columbus a couple days ago, today was a high of like 60...you like moldy air? I don't.
Come to NJ for a summer and try driving around the circles during rush hour and we'll see how tough you are .
I love to drive but the prairies are just too big and boring .
Back on topic,
I didn't know you could repair the dash when it cracked. Can you please send me some information about the body shop you got to fix it, I'd like to give them a call and find out their method/product they use.

I will second the Circles. From driving in NJ then going up to Rochester NY. UGGG. They dont use head lights, they dont use turn signals. But yeah if anyone know where to get a dash fixed, I have my cracking in the corner...annnoys the heck out of me. I tried lookin in J yards and all then are in worse shape then mine. I know NJspeeders is in pretty good shape maybe trade him mine.....since he is a weight freak and mine is missing a few little pieces

Luckily here in Ohio it hasnt got cold enough yet to hurt the dash in my car. but its my first winter. i like days like today where here in columbus we got up to like 65 degrees. but im tired of all the bouncing around. im also tired of the fact that on nice days like today i cant drive my car because it doesnt run at the moment. so look at the cracks in a possitive way, at least it still runs.

I will third the circles in NJ. For those of you familiar with Rt.1, you know what I am talking about And you see what's going on with the construction where Rt.1 and Rt.130 meet....its only going to get worse....

Actually, I want to be a wimpy noodle just like you Americans are. I'm kinda tired of this cold weather. It's my 43rd winter and I'd like to try some California sunshine for a while

I got my dash fixed at a custom car interior shop here. Just make a couple of phone calls and someone will point you in the right direction.

What they did with my chipped corner on the driver's side was build it up with layers of this plastic material that they painted on with a brush, then they sanded it into shape until it was just right. After that they airbrushed it with black paint and dried it with a hair dryer, which gave it the orange peal/wrinkley effect that the rest of the dash has.

its been rather nice here in california, today has a high of about 65 with high winds. yesterday was stormy but it was still in the high 50's. t tops off every afternoon in the beginning of march, its kinda cool . oh and by the way, my dash pad is in tip top shape, but my t top seals blow, the rain proved that last night.

I oil my dash twice a year... it isn't even thinking about cracking. I oil all my plastic and vinyl for that matter.

For those of you from the Central NJ area, if you havent heard about it already, then I have some news for you: Sunday, April 21st is the 8th annual Cops N Rodders Car Show, sponsored by the North Brunswick Police Dept. It will be at the DeVry, on Rt.1 North in North Brunswick. The show runs from 9am to 2pm, and trophies are given out. I know that my buddies from the Central Jersey Camaro and Firebird Organization will meet up before the show at the blowing alley that used to be Carolier Lanes. From there, they will form a huge caravan, and go over to the show...if anyone is interested in showing their car or just going to the show, email me at: PhantomLo@aol.com. I'll provide you with the information necessary. I am undecided if I will go this year...I dont show my TA, b/c it needs body and paint work, but I do show my C5. Whoever wants info, just let me know.

Any kind of oil will keep the plastic and vinyl from becoming brittle over time. If you oil your plastic it will never crack.

Now you tell us the secret! j/k Last week my dash decided that since it is cold in AZ in the morning and hot later in the day, that it wanted to crack. It cracked from the windshield, through the pass speaker portion, and then out across the whole dash. It could have waited a week and I would have known this! Well, now it is time to buy a dash mat and save for the new dashpad THAT I WILL OIL! Thanks for the tip.

Anyone know where to buy a new GM dash pad? I replaced mine in december with a used one and it cracked two weeks ago. I tried gmparts direct but they don't have it.

I used armor all on it. After it cracked I heard that armor all actually dries it up.

I am looking forward to seeing you there...remember, we are meeting up at the bowling alley prior to going over to the show...there is another post i put up about when we are meeting up at the bowling alley...its gonna be i think around a quarter to 8am....b/c we are going to do a caravan over to the show...we did last year too....I will have my silver C5, and everyone else from the club will be with their F-bodys. Check out that post(do a search for my name "PhantomTPI") and you will find it...in there si when we are meeting up. Looking forward to you being there!!!

PS>sometimes, we are so consumed with what we do, we notice little of what is going on around us...and let me tell you, I am no less guilty than anyone else with a busy lifestyle. See you at the show!
