Shift indicator idea

Right now I am working on the interior of my 91 Z. I am doing what I can to replace the yellow text everywhere in the car. I pulled the shift plate out and disassembled it. I dont think the shift assembly has changed much over the years. I was wondering what the color of the shift indicator is in other years than 91-92. The problem I have with mine is that is yellow ribbon that I dont think I could spray paint it blue over that and not lose the light going through the ribbon. Is there anyone that makes replacement ribbons of different colors? I might be able to do more if I had a white ribbon and used some sort of tinting. I am on a mission to get rid of all the yellow. Just putting a blue bulb would probably yield a green color.

Has anyone ever tried anything like this?

I didn't like my yellow either, so I simply used some colored tape. I chose blue, and it turned out good. Obviously, you want to find tape wide enough to work, and make sure you don't leave any bubbles, and don't tape over the red indicator. Mine turned out good, though the night light only shines through the red shift indicator at night, which actually looks pretty cool in my opinion. I've had it like this for about 8 months, and it still looks perfect!

I though about that too. I think I just want to be difficult and it light up at night as well. Thanks though.

You could always try to find transparent colored tape that would match well when blended with the yellow........
