Hey i was wonderin how hard it is to pull out the part of the console where my shifter is. I got a 91 rs and its auto. The pannel where there would be the power window switches if i had em i wanna remove, get another froma junkyard and put some switches in. I was wondering how hard it is to remove, and how you do it.

The piece where the window switches would be is part of the whole plastic part of the console. Now the shifter plate will come off with 4-6 hex head screws, but I dont think that is what you are wanting right. But you could go to a junk yard and get the whole piece I was talking about, let me explain better, it goes around the AC/Heater controls down to the ashtray, then all the way back to the glove box. Then the shifter plate screws down to it. Just start taking the one apart in your car and you'll see what I'm talking about. Once you get it out, go to the junkyard with it and tell them what you want, they will fix you up.
Also its not that hard to get this piece out, just a few screws and bolts. Any more Q's, feel free to ask, or I could get a pic for you.

where are the screws to remove the pieces located at. The ones on the console look like their there for looks, not actually bolting anything down.

The hex bolts may look decorative, but they are whats holding the panel down to the center console. They also aren't actually hex bolts. They're Torx bolts. Having done this many times its not that difficult to do. I believe there are 8 bolts in all. 2 at the glove box, 2 more right in front of the shifter, and 4 around the ashtray. Once you get these up (make sure you use a torx wrench of some kind, otherwise you'll strip them) you have to remove the shifter ****. from there lift the panel at the back and slide it out from under the radio trim plate. This can be a little difficult, but just play with it for a while and it will come. Take that part to the junkyard and get one that has the switches in it already. not too difficult. The hardest part most of the time is getting the damn shifter **** off.
P.S.
Sometimes its easier to remove if you go ahead and put the shifter back in neutral or drive.
P.P.S. ok... so after writing this i went out and actually looked at my console, and i am sorry to say i was very mistaken. The process i told you only takes off the panel up to the point where you are looking to replace... i don't know how to get that off, but there are some bolts inside of the glove box you might wanna look at
