Has anyone ever put TA gfx on a base Firebird? The rocker pieces look like they're going to be a pain in the ***. I went to get the parts from the j-yard, but there's a bracket welded to the body of the car. Are all Trans Ams like this, or did some have this bracket bolted? If you converted to TA gfx, how did you get around this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

yea, the T/A brackets are spot welded on. Take a cordless drill with you and drill through all of the holes. The take a putty knife, use it like a chisel, and cut them off. Then you can either weld, or bolt them back on.

I plan on doing the conversion in the spring (putting 87 T/A gfx on a base 86 bird) on a friends car...I guess I will find out how difficult it is along the way...
Have the parts, just waiting for nice weather
