What do you think about Bras
I am refering to the kind that go on the front of cars of course, and not the kind you all are figuring out how to get off your girlfriend. I never liked the way they looked but I am considering one to protect the front of my 91 Formula. I have a Z28 and just driving it around the Houston Freeways for a few months I am noticing definite degradation of the quality of the front end by rock chips. Now I hear that the bras can cause scratching due to abrasion by moving around in the wind, etc. Also I really wouldn't want to leave it on all the time, but I understand it is somewhat difficult to take on and off. What has been everyones experience with these things?

It does seem to do a little scratching below lip of bra if left on.I use the bra because i removed my floodlights and ran flex up to my gutted out box with K&N's.It protects stuff from getting sucked up into flex.My paintjob isnt perfect so it doesnt bother me.The flex is black so it is hard to see with the black screen

I think the worst part about using them is the paint on the rest of the car will fade some due to the sunlight while the protected area does not. Therefore leaving you a two-toned car.

My opinon is that they look BAD A$$. My 88 has had a bra on it and yes the paint does get some minor scratches on it from the bra, but when I take it off, I just use some polishing compound. Looks good when I am done. The paint isn't the best, but I dont have any rock marks. Just my two cents worth.

I say forget the bra. They are puke ugly, and ruin the sleek looks of our cars. I prefer to repaint my front ends every couple of years if necessary, rather than put one on my car.

BRA's
My personal view is that the only place that any kindof bra belongs on is the top part of a woman??????
I had a Bra type thing on the front of my Firebird and when I cut that thing off, the date tag on the bra was only about 5 years old and the paint was all scratched and in spots were the bra had rubbed the paint down to the primer, but the thing was tight on it
Just my 2 cents(currently less than the mexican peso

The only reason to have a bra is to cover up damage to the front end...
Bra's look like crap on most cars, our cars espically.

well ya know what they say ............opinions are like *******s...everyone has one.I for one like the bra on my car, it serves it's purpose. Now spending money on crap that doesnt do anything for the car.........like people who put the MSD boxes under the hood that serve no purpose for a car that is under 400hp or only has minor mods is crazy. To each his own

I only put the bra on (the car, i repeat, the car) when i go on any kind of long drive, especially long highway, just to keep bugs off and chips, etc.
Any other driving, the bra stays off (once again, the car).

i had one on my 91 for a couple of months.. it was great for the long road trips expecially at night here (bugs all over the place driving to the coast thru farms and such).. if i didnt go on long trips like that, i wouldnt even boher with it. i think i still have it in a box in the garage when i finally stopped using it.

i personnally am getting a bra for my 91 rs too, just make sure its tight, and i have heard of putting another coat of wax over the one you just pout on the whole car but leave it at a haze and put the bra on over it......so you have a little bit of extra protection.....if your driving freeway stuff to a car show or something and you dont feel like cleaning your car twice, put some saran wrap or wd-40 or pam on your front end and all you have to do is pull/wipe it off to get all the bugs off

Well thanks everyone, you all pretty much verified what I already was thinnking, that being bras on these cars look like crap, the only reason to put one on is temporarily for a trip where theres bugs or something, they do scratch the car. I guess im going to go without although I don't like the idea or repainting every few years. Im going topless, wheeee.

well, just wanted to add a few small things about bra's. If anyone has ever lowered a third gen camaro they know that the front spoiler becomes a shovel basically. Mine was lowered and every pot hole, driveway...hell, anything with a grade with eat that front spoiler up. They are not cheap, and niether is custom paint. If your going to use one CLEAN IT on the back side before putting it on. Don't use armor all on it! It's suppose to be able to breathe (yeah right!). And never ever leave it on all the time unless you like water stained, or faded paint. I learned my lesson with bras. And I use one for long trips, or if i know I'll be driving someplace (like the grocery store) that has a steep driveway or alot of pothole along the way. Their easy to put on, and alot cheaper than spot touch up's on your front end. Just some food for thought.

IF u use it the way it was ment to be used. as in put it on before long drives and remove it afterwards. u should have no probs. i like the look i had one fr a while unitl i got a new gril and park lights. i didnt notice and scratches or fad (but my paint is junk). but the onley prob i ahve is a ring of dirt aroudn the front of my car now.
