Camaro Headlight Limitations... need advice.
I want to update my IROC's headlights and I've come up with a tenative design. After rewiring my car (according to the Thirdgen Headlight tech article), here's what I want to replace:
Mains: 130/90W
Brights: 130/90W (only the 130W filament will be used)
Fogs: 100/80W
Essentially, I want to have the low beam Mains on with the low beam Fogs for my "normal" setting, and I want to have the high beam Mains on along with the Brights and the high beam Fogs for the "brights" setting. Wiring up the relays for all this to happen won't be difficult.
I want to use the H4 bulbs for the headlights, but I am going to need a housing that will accomodate 130 watts of power... any suggestions? Also, the fog lights use 9004 bulbs, right? I think that I'm going to need new housings for that as well, because I doubt the stock fog light housings are going to withstand 100 watts.
Does anyone see any problems with this setup? Sorry it was so long, but I wanted to make sure that I know all my limitations before proceeding with this. I hope it won't be too bright

stock fog bulbs are 885's. can't do anything about them short of replacing them.
good luck melting everything. don't know why you need 90W low beams when stockers are 55, and are quite adequate. stock hi-beams are 65, and you want 130? sounds like a crazy idea. post pics of your car as the front end starts on fire!

Car: too many ...
Yeah bro, just goto Ebay and do a search on Camaro H4 and some guy is selling a kit to convert our cars to H4 headlamps (and you can choose the bulbs). All I gotta say is beware ... I did the H4 conversion to my truck and ran the bright bulbs 100/90 and not only did it melt the harness and fuse everthing with the housing, it also burned part of the computer witch had to be replaced. Just beware what wattage you run. When I convert mine to H4 I plan to run the lower watt ultrawhite bulbs 80/65 and the driving lights I picked up are the PIAA ultrawhite 100/90 made to run 100/90 bulbs. I would not recommend trying to run bright bulbs in those weak stock driving light enclosures. You're looking at about $400 to really do it right (all four lamps, bulbs, harnesses, and aftermarket driving lights). Good luck!!!

Guys, he's going to run power through relay(s) to power his lights. If he does this properly, the factory wiring won't get overloaded. The factory wiring will serve only to turn on the relay. Power will go from his battery, through the relay, and into the light bulbs.
blue,
J.C. Whitney sells H4 housings; I bought a set from them quite a few years ago. They're cheaply made, and water eventually got inside them and made them rust. They already come with weaker bulbs than what you want, but if your budget allows, you can simply replace them.
Hella also makes H4 housings. They cost about twice as much, but I'd imagine they're far better in quality.

Thanks, everyone. Now, does anyone know of any aftermarket housings for my fog lights that will accept higher-wattage bulbs than what my car comes with?
