I just picked up a used OEM nose clip and passenger fender for $200....and he tossed in all the mounting hardware as well.

That $200 included shipping from Texas to Massachusetts ;-)

I've got a brand spanking new nose clip and passenger fender for sale. They are aftermarket though.....

not to nitpick, but it looks like your hood is dented too, In the front of the hood in the middle....

that really stinks if you ask me about the accident, I hate those... Its not the part about the money fpr getting the work done, its the time it takes to get it done...

90TA you better shut the hell up you have no idea what happened.i hope you go and get in an accident and cause a grand worth of damage to your TA and you see how funny it is when it happens to you.the car that was in front of me(a beretta) switched lanes really quick to avoid a car that was waiting to turn left at an intersection.i had no time to react as he didnt use his brake lights, only his signal, which was to late for me to react to.and his rear window was tinted really dark so i couldnt see the car in front of him.he switched lanes and there the car was.unfortunately there was traffic to the side of me so i could not switch lanes myself.i was doing about 45-50(in a 40 zone, going with traffic),and about 60 feet behind the beretta, and im lucky i had enough time to slow down as much as i did(which i believe was to around 15 before i hit the car),and that it wasnt slippery that night.heres a little diagram i drew up quickly to try and show how it happened.hope it explains it good enough.

Dude, if that's what happened... as far as insurance is concerned, your gunna eat it on this one. I hope for your sake that it was poor conditions or something... cause insurance will rape you.

Do you have any witnesses on your side? If you do, you should make sure they give a statement to the cops.

well when i explained it to the insurance guy on the phone and told him that i could not see the car that i hit until that beretta changed lanes,he said "ok let me write that down"(like it was an important statement),so im going to hope that through some miracle this can somehow not be charged as my fault.there was nothing i could have done to avoid hitting the car.if its my fault then there will be a big waving.i could have been another 10 feet behind the beretta or going 10 mph slower, and i still would have hit the car, obviously not as hard of course, but enough to cause some damage.if it is charged as my fault,am i going to do all i can to change it to a no fault.oh yeah and the damage to the other car was a cracked rear bumper and i believe the lower portion of the trunklid was slightly pushed in.i forgot.

That sucks dude It wouldn't have looked near as bad if whoever painted your car had used flex agent in the paint on the nose. What you have is exactly what happens when it is left out.

Unfortunately they are going to rape you.... the rule is you must always be driving at a speed that you can stop in time... even if the person in front of you locks 'em up

Camaro + young driver + you hit her from behind = **** raping

I am glad Michigan has no-fault insurance... Hey! I hit a beretta once...those pesky Beretta's... no damage though, it was in an old 77 Buick Electra I was driving, loved that car, hated that car, I hated to love that car...

...hmmmmm

I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Sorry to hear about your car and I guess you were OK? That's the most important thing. Cars can be replaced but people can't. Good luck and I hope you're able to prove it was the Beretta's fault.

Well let's see, Bubba. You start with showing off your latest f*ck up. I agree with you there. YOU F*CKED UP. How many accidents have you been in? According to your own admission, 4 now. Very impressive for a 19 year old kid. Small wonder you pay about $180 a month for insurance. Then without further explanation how it happened, you say you "rear ended a girl that I didn't see until too late due to a poor driver in front of me". Think about how that sounds. You then give your explanation of the accident with your pathetic IT"S NOT MY FAULT excuses. Oh, it is not my fault, because "I was doing 45-50mph in a 40mph zone, going with traffic". WRONG. What others do does not justify you doing the same. It's not my fault; because I was behind a Berretta whose rear window was tinted so dark I couldn't see the car in front of him. WRONG. A van or a pickup truck would have been the same story. It is not my fault, because the Berretta used his turn signal and not his brakes when he changed lanes quickly to get around the car in front of him. WRONG. Regardless of how quickly he changed lanes, the fact of the matter is, he had time and room to do so without having to slow down. You are supposed to keep a safe distance away from the vehicle in front of you and give yourself time to react in the event you have to come to a dead stop at any time. Traveling at 45mph means you are going 66 feet per second. Since it takes a Camaro about 130 feet to go from 60-0mph, at 45mph you would need about 98 feet to stop. The fact is, your 60 feet was too close to be able to react and stop even if the Berretta hadn't changed lanes. You can make up any and all the excuses you want that it was not your fault. Not one you have given will float. The fact is, you are supposed to be in control of your vehicle at all times. You clearly didn't from what you have stated. Your statement "well when I explained it to the insurance guy on the phone and told him that I could not see the car that I hit until that Berretta changed lanes, he said "ok let me write that down"(like it was an important statement), so I'm going to hope that through some miracle this can somehow not be charged as my fault". Yes that was an important statement he wrote down. Nails in your coffin and it will take a lot more than a miracle for the accident not to be your fault. If anyone should shut the hell up, it is you, Bubba. If you told the insurance company and/or cops the same things that you said here, you just dug yourself a grave and buried yourself. Everybody thinks if they put the blame on someone else, it makes it "NOT MY FAULT". The so-called "poor driver" was you. 4 accidents in about 3.5 years shows that. Regardless of anything you have said, YOU FAILED to reduce your speed to avoid an accident. By the way, have you ever heard of defensive driving? Apparently not. YOU f*cked up, your excuses blaming someone else aren't going to change that. Be happy nobody was seriously hurt. Welcome to much higher insurance rates.

im sorry to inform you but if you hit somebody from behind its ur fault 100%. as a driver you are suposed to have full control of the car at all times under all conditions. you are lucky it could have been worse. you could have been goin a little faster or racing the mustang next to you when it happend you coudl have not had your seat belt on and ended up in the back seat of the beretta.. count your blessings thats its only that much damage and your not hurt.

There are many offenses we could consider very negligent and life-endangering- things like running red lights, cutting people off, speeding very fast...

But there are other offenses just about all of as are guilty of from time to time- like following too closely. I know it's the back driver's fault in a rearend collission if they couldn't stop in time, but I must admit every now and then I won't keep a 3 second following distance like I should, as many other drivers around me do but they do on a much more frequent basis. I mean how many times will you tail that SOB driver on a two-lane highway who's going 20 under the limit? I can't stand 'em. So as much as I can say you don't have a prayer in this kind of accident, it really could happen to most of us so I do sympathize.

So give us an update!

When i was 16 maybe 17, I was folowing my buddy to school, aget this camaro pulled out in front of him (camaro was totally in the wrong as well.)

My buddy locks his brakes..Of course.. here I go pile up underneath his truck (the rear was lifted from the quick stop). My friend is all pissed, just pulls away, taking my trucks front bumper with it. We could have jacked my truck up an avoided damage.

I didn't understand why he was soo pissed at me. The camaro did the pulling out stuff..

Well fast forward 15 years.. In the mean time I drove truck for 5 years.. I'm driving down the road, and this RX7 is too close for comfort, not illegal but just too damned close to my butt.. IM like ..grr get off my tail..

Just as I return my sight inforont of me, instead staring down the guy in my rearveiw.. what is it.. a mail truck stopped dead in front of me.

I know better I don't slam on the brakes, I would have nailed her.. Instead I signal as fast as I can and switch lanes.

The RX7 nails the mail truck at full speed. I instantly go back to the scene to see if anyones hurt, his engine is in the front seat, everyones fine, but the mail chick, her neck is screwed up.

Someone came up and asked what happend.. guy in RX-7 says "Idiot didn't signal, just swerved to the left, and BOOM there was the mail turck..totally his fault nothing I could do"

I said no, you were riding his butt, and he moved to avoid the mail truck, no way following that close you could have stopped. He says "HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW", I said"heh I was the guy you were tailgating.

FLASHBACK..I feel some pity maybe even mercy..I now understand why my friend was so pissed, sure that camaro pulled ou in front of him that day, but I had no business being so close that I couldn't stop when he did. Same as the RX-7 guy..

I major impressed that at 19 you still pay your insurance, and you had it at the time of the accident, big pat on the back for you seriously kudos man I know adults with good jobs who don't have insurance.

The kids here, around the neighborhood, if they can't afford the insurance they drive anyways. Most 19 year olds are like "bah.. forget that $180 a month.. ill do without, I don't wreck, no insurance ticket is $450, I'll save money even if i do get a ticket"

They usualy aren't the ones who pay, it's the guys with liability only driving carefull who get stuck with the bill, gettting 6-7k out of teenager is never going to happen ;(

I hope your rates don't go too high, be glad you have insurance and noone got hurt eh?

One close call a year ago is all it took for me. I was going down a highway with my buddy. Since he has a nice 406, he was in front of me, leading big time... By the time toll booths happened both of us slowed down... I kept my 2-3 sec distance... His car is wider since he's got wide tires in the back that obstruct much of the side view... He swerved around this dude real fast, that I didn't even see and I was like "f.......k!!!" I hit the brakes and one of the rear drums locked up together with the front one..

I was sensible enough to pulse the brakes really fast while slowly trying to pass it. I managed to pass around the cars, 1 or 2 of my wheels still locked up and I also had to compensate for oversteering otherwise I would have hit 4-5 people lined up to my right....

I corrected and my car stopped just when I thought I am going to rear end my buddy with a 406. That was a close call.

I rolled down my window, everyone was looking at me. I just looked straight. I was shaking and could barely drive for the rest of the trip..

I could smell rubber everywhere and my brakes weren't working for the next 5 minutes, they were so hot that even after half an hour I couldn't hold my finger on them for too long...

That one definitely chilled me out... no stupid **** since then, but I managed to get myself out of situations where other people almost hit me. There's some good articles on stunt car driving, they're an interesting read, like stuff Bobby Ore does.. I am no stunt driver, but it helps to learn some of the tricks at least , you never know when you'll need them...

I have a "safe driver" discount and I keep my speeding (10-30 over) to open highways and back roads...

Your statement to the insurance man "well when i explained it to the insurance guy on the phone and told him that i could not see the car that i hit until that beretta changed lanes,he said "ok let me write that down"(like it was an important statement),so im going to hope that through some miracle this can somehow not be charged as my fault.there was nothing i could have done to avoid hitting the car." Will be used against you. 90 TA is right as far as "you Fuc** UP” The insurance company has all the information they need regarding the performance and braking of our cars. The past accidents you had maybe used as well if this goes to court. As you said, no one was injured but who's to say the girl will not have neck pains and etc.. There are allot of so called "ambulance chaser" lawyers out there that would like to have that girl as their client. As far as wishing for someone to have an accident and especially one on this board is a no, no. Have I been in an accident? Yes, once and that's all it takes. I am more of a defensive driver now on the road and am aware that a few seconds of recklessness can injure or kill those around me. I see in the picture that you have snow in your area, was the road wet at the time of the accident? For those who just recently purchased a Camaro/Firebird OUR STOCK CARS DO NOT HANDLE WELL IN WET WEATHER. Wish you the best of luck in trying to get this matter resolved as quick as possible.

Amen. 90TA is right on the money. Kids have NO sense of responsibility these days. I knew this guy was no more than 21 once I read the first post.

After you were clearly at fault you claim it was not your fault, then proceed to wish a collision on a fellow board member for calling you on it. Wow, that's mature. Perhaps if you had assumed some responsibility in the past for some of your wrecks, you might have improved your driving and not had this one. Again, that would require being responsible, which seems to elude you.
