4th gen power seat question.

How hard is it to adapt the 4th gen power seat to a 3rd gen that came with power seats? I know they will bolt in.

No it wont be hard

All you need is a constant positive and negative ground. If you already have power seats in your 3rd gen you should just have to splice the conector from the th gen to the 3rd or vice versa. if you need any more info drop me a line.

If your car is already equipped w/pwr seats-shouldn't be that hard to do--the hot is constant and then there's just the ground--easy! Have you checked your plug coming out from under the rug? If it's more then 2 wires let me know.

The seats I just picked up have WAY more than 2 wires coming out.... they have inflatable lumbar etc...

you can see pics of the seats in post "pics of red 4th gen leather"

How do I hook these up in a car that didn't come with power seats?

it's kinda the same.

In that case you have two positive wires and two negative wires. when you find which one is which hook them up to there respective wire. all it will take is a little trial and error. If the controls work in the right direction you have them hooked up right if they go in oppisite direction then they are backwards. hope this helps.

All those wires should go into 2--right into the female part of the connector(from the seat)--if I'm not mistaken-I've never seen under 4th gen seats--if you're car didn't come w/pwr seats, just run a constant hot lead-w/a fuse-from your fuse box-then run it under the rug, then have it come out from under the seat-hopefully you have the male end of the plug for the new seats--splice it into the plug and that should be it.

JohnyIROC - not to be nosy, but how much did you pay for those leather 4th gen seats, and did you just get the front two or all four? I'm going to try and find black leather power seats and I was just wondering how much I could expect to spend. Thanks.

I actually got all four for $150 Canadian (Less than $100 US)... I got the deal of a life time. I've seen them sell for over $1000 US. If you want black... you're lookin at at least around $800 US.

Here's a pic of mine:

Mine are power inflatable lumbar/bolsters... so they were not quite so easy to wire up. I didn't get the harness out of the donor car because I was in too much of a hurry.

For anyone who is trying to wire power inflatable... here is the schematic:

Drivers Seat:
-Red Wire (Live - to the fuse block)
-Black Wire (Ground to chassis)
-Grey Wire (To grey wire on passenger seat)
-Grey Wire with Black Stripe (To grey wire with black stripe on passenger seat)
-White Wire (To white wire on passenger seat)

Passenger Seat:
-Red Wire (Live - to red wire on driver's seat)
-Grey Wire (To grey wire on driver's seat)
-Grey Wire with Black Stripe (To grey wire with black stripe on driver's seat)
-White Wire (To white wire on driver's seat)

You also have to run an air hose from the fitting on the driver's seat to the fitting on the passenger seat.

When I took my brothers leather seats out of his 96 T/A, I took the connector from the and the harness and air tube with them.
Just wired his connector to my cars wires and hooked it all together.
Hardest part was running the wires and air tube under the carpet, over the console, to the passenger seat without pulling up the carpet.

Manual to power?

If I have the plain old manual 3rd gen seats and I want to swap in a 4th gen power driver's seat, how much work is there? Can it be done?
I found a pair of leather 98 SS seats from a friend of a friend. Driver is power, passenger is not. Please help.

Just run 12v power to the seat under the carpet, that is all you need to do.
