uh... can I get some help here
yeah yeah yeah I know it's not thirdgen.... but you can still give me a hand
looking to change the color of my interior on my car to black from the gray crap
outside of the car is red and think it would look a lot better with the black inside
but my problem is I dont want to replace the whole dash with a black one
how hard is it to try to dye it another color and would it hold up
or do I need to just fork up the cash and buy a black dash?

If the dash is plastic or vinyl, use VHT vinyl dye. I changed my parts from grey to black with excellent results for 3 years now. Just make sure the part you are painting is clean, clean, clean or the paint will peel. As always, follow the directions on the can.

oh yeah another thing
I need to replace the carpet since it is worn and torn in a few places but the head liner is in perfect shape
should I still go ahead and replace it or can I get it to match by using some sort of dye on that?

I got the VHT spray paint from Summit I think, about $10 a can. By the way to do it right you should pull the dash out of the car. It will be so much easier and it is the only way to really clean it right. Use formula 409 or por15 marine clean to clean it and rinse very, very well. Wear rubber gloves while handling the piece becuase the oil from your fingerprint with not let the paint stick.
As for the carpet, you can buy dye for it, but then it will just be dyed worn and torn carpet. Also because the carpet takes so much abuse I wouldn't dye the carpet. Replace the carpet with a color you want.

I was refering to just dying the headliner
the rest of the carpet will be replaced
only thing is I have not really seen a place to buy the head liner at
though I guess I may as well look around and buy it since it would prolly not be that bad to pick up
ah the ideas I come up with late at night
