Power window speed?

I'm wondering how fast/slow the power windows are actually supposed to work on my 88. Both of my windows seem slow to me but both are exactly at the same speed. Is it normal for third gen windows to be some slower than most? I have had older cars/trucks with slow windows that were really improved with overall maintenance but usually the driver's window was much worse. Kind of a chore to get in there and go through all the cleaning and lube, be a waste of time if it's not going to help.

Well, it depends on your definition of fast, but in my opinion, mine have always been slow. they are much slower than say a 2008 Toyota. If you are concerned tracks may need cleaned, it may not be a bad idea to keep the motors from wearing out. The rubber window stops invariably break down, and could need replaced anyway.

Re: Power window speed?

They're not as fast as modern power windows. I have new motors/switches and freshly cleaned/greased mechanisms. It made a massive difference in the old busted/slow stuff. But not quite as fast as a modern car!

Re: Power window speed?

FWIW, the windows in my '86, which I've owned since new, have always been 'slow' compared to more-recent vehicles. As long as they operate smoothly and quietly, IDC about their speed.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll leave them alone unless I need to pull the door panels for something else.
