I have a 1982 z-28 compsite hood on my car and was wondering it was worth anything. I ask because i want to bolt on a functional hood scoop or cowl. It is in good repair with only a few cracks.

 

I have the same hood on my 84 and I bolted a cowl inuction scoop on it. It cuts pretty easy to make it functional plus it dosn't weigh a whole lot. I put regular hood struts on and it works great.

Oh man, don't chop up that Crossfire hood! Someone will buy it, I would if I didn't live so far away. Those early glass hoods and the CFI flapper assembly are gettin' kinda rare. Most of them you see today are totally trashed, I have been searching the 'yards for a couple months since I can't afford to buy one elsewhere and have it shipped. I found one. smashed into 3 pieces .

 

Alright good to know thanks. After i put on a weiand stealth i'm going to build a really nice ramair and cold air intake system. I already have a couple spare moroso air cleaners and a K & N Filter top. Its gonna be really nice. Built out of aluminum or painted steel. Check it out, i just moved the battery but haven't taken any pics yet being a foot of snow on the ground.

 

ME Leigh...did you make that strut tower brace? That is cool.

 

Yes, i made it out of 1" square steel, cut it and welded it together. It worked out really nice and really stiffens up the handiling. It cost about $12 bucks to build.

 

Are these hoods worth any money, or are they worthless?

 

They are worth some money, not like worth there wait in gold, but definately worth more than your average stock hood. These hoods had delamination problems and were recalled, so they are not a dime a dozen now.
