Trim around hatch glass?

Trim around hatch glass?
Can this trim around the hatch glass be removed easily and then reinstalled after painting? While I have the hatch off, I’d really like to take care of this trim then while the deck lid is off to be resealed.

OK. I figured once I get the hatch off I’ll be able to tell more about it, but just trying to get a game plan on it. I can do it with it on, but it’ll take a lot of duct tape so as to protect the glass from scratches while sanding the trim. It’s a good thing I have a 5 year build plan for this car. Might need to extend it to 10 though. 🤣

Only the top button bolts on the glass go through it. I carefully removed mine with the hatch still on the car to have it powdercoated. To be honest, it actually looks a lot cleaner without it on there, but I will put it back on after I get the car running.

It's glued on with urethane similar to the front windshield, but if you take your time it can be removed with a piece of wire or nylon string. It protects the edge, but the C4 had a glass rear hatch with no trim around it and they did fine. Of course, the hatch was much smaller on those cars.

Just tape it off, sand and paint it. Super easy, looks awesome, and lasts a super long time. No need to make it any harder than it needs to be. I've painted them on a few of my cars with SEM Trim Black, and they looked like brand new
