83 camaro side skirt clips
I need help. I have a 1983 Camaro Z28. The ground effects side skirt attaches to the rear quarter behind the door by 2 washer style clips that attach to small pins welded to the quarter panel. The pin has a small head. The clip looks like a washer with a raised edge and a small hole in the center with a tab that locks onto the head of the pin. I need 2 clips. Does anyone know where I can get these clips? I think they were only used the first couple years of the 3rd gen body style.

Yes they are available. I don’t recall specifically. Camaro Central and Classic Industries are good places to look.

Re: 83 camaro side skirt clips
Thank you. I didn’t find clips for the correct year but I found Gm part # 3986976. The description states they are for 71-78 rocker skirts but they look correct so I’m going to try them.

Yeah I searched after my post and could not find them. But did it on my phone. It would be easier on laptop. Maybe can find original order though that will be slim.

Re: 83 camaro side skirt clips
My car is out at the painter right now. It is an 84 Z28, and I will bet when he takes those off to paint them, some of those clips are going to break. I would like to order some more so I can drop them off to replace any that break. Did you guys nail down a compatible part number for certain? I assume the 83 and 84 would use the same clips, yes?

Re: 83 camaro side skirt clips
Thank you for the information. Do the front and rear ground effects use the same clips or different since it is plastic to plastic rather than plastic to metal?

Re: 83 camaro side skirt clips
The key to getting the side gfx off is to slide it towards the rear tire once all the screws are removed. If you try to pull it away from the qtr panel, you'll break those plastic discs. I used to have a stash of both the plastic and metal version. Now i cant find them! The front gfx uses mostly bolts/nuts, but at the very ends there is a plastic pin that uses these clips (pic) to hold it to the fender.

The front of the side skirt is two screws under the emblem. The emblem is double sided tape along with two plastic prongs. Pry gently and evenly and take your time. Then screws along the top and bottom of rocker. After all screws are out slide rocker towards rear tire to get off.
