10in NASCAR Spoiler Build

Just a quick video (Part 1) on making a 10in spoiler for the SCCA CAM-T Autocross class.
works extremely well at keeping the rear end planted.
Makes 276lbs of downforce at 35mph
Unfortunately murders fuel economy for obvious reasons.

Fully Torqued splitter rods. Custom lenght barrels I made myself.

Pretty cool! I like it. ...out of curiousity, how do you know how much downforce it creates?

Re: 10in NASCAR Spoiler Build

it makes 276Lbs at 35mph. doesn't seem to make any more regardless of speed past 35mph.

Part 2 covers drilling and making the support rods
I used this spoiler at my 1st autocross event of 2021 and was not disappointed.
the amount of throttle you can apply on mid/corner exit is crazy with all that down force added.

Re: 10in NASCAR Spoiler Build

I'd also like to know how you measured the 275 lbs of downforce exactly too ?

Re: 10in NASCAR Spoiler Build

I used a ride height sensor.
I measured average ride height with and without the 10in spoiler at various speeds.
then determined the amount of weight needed to get my suspension to drop to match the spoiler ride height at each speed.

It's not an exact science, but who has the $$$ to blow on a wind tunnel? Anyone got $8,000 to blow on a 4-5 hour wind tunnel session?

Most people have a 10in spoiler in the CAM-T class.
It's super common and very effective.
Even if it murders fuel economy.
