Im ready to apply POR15, help
OK, im ready to apply this POR15 stuff to protect the rust. Please give me any tips and benefits of experience that anyone might have. Im going to do the underside of the car only wherever there is rust. Is it really true you don't have to remove the rust. I was just planning on wire brushing and going from there.
Thanks guys

How long does that stuff take to dry? Because next semester I'm taking Auto Body, and have access to a lift so I can actually stand under the car to make applying it easier, but only have 52 mins in a class unless I come in to school early or something.

I have used it many times with extremely good results. You have to remove any flaking rust. So the wire brush idea is perfect. Just don't get it on your skin, because it really does take a week for it to come off. 52 minutes is not enough. It depends on air temp and humidity but it takes a couple of hours to be dry to the touch and overnight to completely dry.

Use cheap disposable brushes. Keep the can sealed, pour out just what you need. Put celophane between the can and lid, else punch the lid to pour out the POR15, and tape over the holes. Prime while tacky if you plan to topcoat.

Ive used this stuff quite a bit and I found that the more work you put into the preperation of the area the better the results. If the bottle says to soak the section for 15 mins or whatever, do it.
