Has anyone made a custom emblem?

I have a 91' T/A that the previous owner badged as a GTA. I love the look of the GTA emblems but the clone part bugs me, so I'd like to see everyone's thoughts on some factory looking custom emblems. I'm thinking the same font as a GTA emblem with "Trans Am" still left below, but replace GTA with TPI. Or a similar look with '5.0" replacing the GTA letters. I also thought about taking the gold sail panel emblem and putting in in the place of the fender emblems, but I'm worried that it would look over run with identical emblems.

Has anyone ever done this? Or does anyone have any ideas as to how to retain the GTA look, but with subtle changes to avoid a direct clone?

Re: Has anyone made a custom emblem?

Are you looking for metal emblems? Or just something in plastic that looks similar?

I just had some custom emblems made for my Formula. I don't have them yet but the guy making them has sent me pictures, they are amazing, and I don't use the word amazing lightly. I had someone remake the Firehawk "bird" in a vector file without the word and also another with a "bear" head on the "bird". They are all printed in gold and are clear domed so that when applied over the paint you will get the emblem effect with the paint behind. I figured this would look better than trying to match a paint color in the emblem. I used the "hawk" head to get some Ronal R15 center cap jewels made in silver for my wheels since the Ronal emblem is so generic. I had 4 more of the gold bear heads made for when I get the car painted. I also had sail panel birds made to emulate the GTA sail panel bird, he mirrored these so the head points to the front on each side of the car. He also did shields just like the front GTA shield.

I am sure he could make something very similar to what you're looking for. He has gotten into metal scribing and laser etching, so doing something like the GTA badge should be easy for him

Metal would be nice but I'd be more than happy with a durable enough plastic that looks the part! Do you still have the pics? If so I'd love to see em'

Re: Has anyone made a custom emblem?

Not all of these were "correct" on the order, but he said he's giving them to me anyway

This is going to be a sail panel bird

These are going to replace the factory Ronal emblems on my second run R15 center caps

This is the mirror image pair of the sail panel birds

These are some of the nose shields, not all of them were supposed to say Firehawk at the top and you can see my other bear head jewels for the center caps for after I paint the car.

The "bear" heads are my personal touch on all of this, my friends call me Polar Bear and I wanted to incorporate that into my car

Oh man those look awesome! The nose emblem especially. That's almost exactly what I'm after too; factory look with subtle difference
