Pour a lot of gas on your engine and light it with a match, that will take care of it

Blueiroc, youre painting the bottome of the hood itself? If so if its not chiped and you just want to make the paint stick try using a 3M scothbrite scuff pad. It's a little easier in tight spots.

No actually I need to repaint the whole engine bay before I weld the mounts for the motor plates and other crap but it's a pain to sand it all by hand....I will if I have to but would rather find some sort of paint stripper etc....

Use Air Craft Stripper obtained at a hardware store/car stopre/ Wal-Mart. You can apply it with a paint brush, as not to hit things you dont want to strip. Also, be carefull not to get it on any wires/plastic parts. When your done, you can hose it all off, wipe it down, clean it using what ever you want, and youll be good to go!
Good Luck!

Hey thanks I'll give it a shot....the whole bay is empty...no wires or plastic so it should be fairly easy...thanks for the info.

Still going to have to sand lightly. I striped an El Camino with that and it leaves a small amount of paint smears, plus you still have to sand to get the paint to stick. Me personally I don't like the stuff but the customer wanted it done and it had a old laquer paint that gets warm and smears when you try to take it off.
