Is it worth fixing?

1987 Camaro Z28 305 tpi. 36,000 miles all original, is it fixable? Is it worth fixing? What’s it worth as it sits? How much could I get Parting it out?

Re: Is it worth fixing?

Looks like major subframe damage there. I would say no, part it out. Anything is fixable with enough money and time, but that's pretty extensive and will require more than just a fender, bumper or hood and some paint...much more! Real shame though...

I agree with Kitt. The super low mile engine/trans are worth more than the full care as it sits. Assuming the interior is clean and the other panels and various components are all in good shape, you'll make a decent bit off parting it. Is that your car or one that you're considering buying?

Re: Is it worth fixing?

Have you gotten any body shop quotes? Is there a collector car policy on the car?

Re: Is it worth fixing?

I'd be real tempted to fix that-need better pics including some underneath to get a good evaluation of how deep the damage is...Would need to graft in a section to that left front for sure, but if engine compartment is square-I say fix,and add SFCs at the same time If you would have to "farm out"all the work, that might change the situation...

Re: Is it worth fixing?

Man....I'd need to see more of the car. It looks like the rear part of the fender is all smashed, too, so did it get into the door? And, like someone else stated, that is not a quick fix. Upper rail, header panel, etc. And it sucks that nobody even makes reproduction stripes for an 87 Z28. More pics, please

Re: Is it worth fixing?

Fixed, it will likely get a "Salvage" Title and be worth about half its normal value.

Re: Is it worth fixing?

Value is irrelevant if there were no plans of selling the car.

My wife wrecked one of my Irocs in a very similar way, although hard to say if it was better or worse from that one picture. I won't lie, it was a very hard hit and probably not "worth" fixing, but I fixed it anyway and don't regret it one bit. I also did not file a claim with the insurance company, so the car still has a good title.

If you have the ability to fix it, than I say go for it!
