Electric hatch pull down question
Hello,
I have been having issues with the pull down for awhile now. Car was parked for a couple of years, had a mouse issue and a water leak around the hatch lock area.
Anyways, I got a rebuild kit for the slides/motor from Top Down Solutions. This installed fine. I bolted everything back in, and all works like it should.
There is one issue that was apparent before the rebuild, and that is that the latch when either all the way down or up, I can move the latch up or down by hand about 3/16 of an inch ( I thought this was just movement from a cracked motor housing...nope ). There is slack where the pin connects through the eye on the motor pull down rod. The pin hole is not wore...it seems like there is a bushing missing.
Is there supposed to be this amount of slack?
The only way I can get the hatch closed is to put a screwdriver through the lock hole, and hold the latch assembly up while pushing the hatch down.
I have tried numerous positions for the latch assembly also...original spot and all the way down,up and in between.
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks !

Re: Electric hatch pull down question
I found a somewhat decent photo of the pull down assembly, and it appears there is a bushing or similar item missing from my unit. I did not remove one. How the heck was this even working in the first place before it was parked??
Does anyone have a part number for this bushing? Search is not very helpful right now

I don't recall a serviceable bushing. There's a bushing of sorts, but it's a permanent part of the rod. Have you got the right "pin" or bolt through the eye? Should look like this - http://www.top-downsolutions.com/use...pull-down-unit or it'd be a similar Torx bolt and nut combo.

Re: Electric hatch pull down question
Thanks Drew. Yes, that is the same pin that I have.
I found what is left of my original bushing. The outer edges are wore off, and it rolled away from the work bench. Im going to the hardware store tomorrow to Mcgiver something up if it will not work anymore.
Thanks again
