hinge kit

hinge kit

does the door need to be removed to replace pin and bushings in lower hinge?

But the spring can be a bit of a bugger.

The easiest way I have found to do this is to open the door. Then support it somehow. Cover the big spring with a shop cloth and pry it out. Be careful this spring can and will hurt you. Remove the spring clip/retainer and drive the LOWER hinge pin out. Now remove the kick panel from the interior. Remove the bolts that hold the LOWER hinge to the body, and remove the "body side" part of the hinge. Remove the old bushings from the hinge, install the new ones. Do not hammer them in! Use a 5/16 bolt and nut with a few washers as spacers to slowly pull the new bushings in to place. Now put everything back together. You may need a special tool to install the big spring.
