Re: Body Side Mouldings - question
As far as I’ve seen they only make the 88-92 style reproductions.
I got them from Hawks on my IROC. I would highly recommend them if you’re thinking about it. The painter is a really meticulous high end restoration guy and was skeptical as I was, but he said they were actually better than the original ones and thought they looked better painted to match than the factory infused plastic.
He was going to try and track down original ones NOS and paint those to match. He said once you get them off the car with the metal insert they will never be straight again. I was surprised he liked the Hawks ones better. Hawks has white or black prepped styles depending on your paint code.
The earlier style moldings were skinnier and came on a lot of GM cars. My parents had a 1985 Oldsmobile that had Identical moldings to my 87 IROC. I’m pretty sure Buicks used the same ones too. I’m fairly certain 1985 IROCs and Z28s had black moldings rather than body color..
Maybe you could find some NOS and paint them to match?
They did switch to the newer style molding in the end of 87 production according to some accounts.
I personally like the look with the moldings so I would get them, but that’s just me.

87 should have the skinny moldings in body color. When you drop back to 86, some models stills used black, so it depends on the car. Not sure if any 87 Camaros came with black moldings (aside from black cars) but I'm fairly sure a blue 87 Iroc should have blue. Just guessing.

Re: Body Side Mouldings - question
My 87 had the thin body color moldings. My 85 had the thin black ones..
