84 plain jane to Better then Iroc. Pic heavy!
This is what we started with to where we are right now. Business customers cars come first so there are times we cannot work on the camaro.
Just starting in.
Complete rust free West Texas car to start with.
No obvious damage to front end.
Lots of West Texas Dust.
Out with the old tired 305.

The original red paint was not in very bad condition. All of it won't be fully stripped as it makes a good prime of its own.
We're painting in pieces that are easy to store out of the way. With customers cars in and out we don't want them scratched up.
Considering our location we were amazed that this car had no hail damage. Rare for a car this age. But that red has to go!
Really hate having that big hole for a fuel cap. Considering options at this point but later decided to leave it.
Floor boards as well as everything underneath is free of any rust.

No more red!
First coats of black.
Fenders back on temporarily.
There are just something about these body lines when painted black that really stand out.

Donor 8PS code rear axle. Might be swapping gears but its low mileage.
Later model camaro wheels for mobility now. Might go that style if we can find two front wheels to match.
So clean you can eat off the rear axle.
Can't have dirty brake lines!
3.73 locking. No metal and very clean inside.
Appears to be original rotors and have never been turned. Just a light cleaning on the brake lathe.

K member getting ready to be dropped.
Old tired worn out parts.
We are swapping in the complete k member as well as all front end and suspension parts from the 85 iroc.
Another gratuitous rear axle shot.

Reinstalled. Buttoning up everything now. Looks so much better. its a lot of work but certainly worth it.
Still need to pull rotors and calipers for refurbishing.
Almost there.
Iroc steering box sandblasted and painted cast iron gray. Other items are now being prepped/painted.

Installed rear hatch from the Iroc donor car today. Also swapped in the wiring harness.
Original interior was shot and tossed! Pics soon of refreshed Iroc red Lear-Siegler interior will be installed.

Original Speedometer. This won't do.
Out with the old dash and wiring harness.
Donor Iroc dash and harness. Dusty but will clean up nicely.
This one is more like it!

The original firewall insulation in the project camaro.
Swapped out the insulation from the Iroc.
Door handles refurbished.
No more cranking the window up or down.
Electric window from the iroc installed and tested. Closes nice and tight with the new rubber wipers and and door seals!

Carpet and dash going back in. Dash is from Iroc and has a few extra pigtails that have to be traced. This car will not need a computer ever so some wiring has/will be removed.<br/>

Spoiler mounted. Needs a tiny bit of adjustment.
Dusty shine. Customers all original 57 Cadillac Coupe Deville behind the almost Iroc.
Instrument panel in place. Way to many wires.

Second coat of primer.
Rear bumper was not bad at all.
Lots of spider web cracks.
Lots of sanding and one crack to repair.
About 4 coats of paint on this front bumper cover.

You're putting in an awful lot of work but you're not refinishing the underside of the body?

This car is a personal spare time project being done in a very busy shop. And since the body had virtually no rust and the paint and undercoating was in good shape I decided to save time. This one will be an every day driver and since it already has and will have normal road spray underneath soon I decided it wasn't worth it.
