T-Top roof rusting away.. repair or replace?
The rust on the roof finally turned into holes. It was bubbling from underneath the paint so who knows how bad it is. I attached some pictures.
Water is coming in and seems to collect in the right rear passenger floor area. Going to start covering the car when it rains. I have nowhere to keep it inside, only outside.
Also have surface rust on the front A-pillars and top of the windshield. Car has a lot of miles and I am thinking of just selling it, but I love this car and want to keep it alive until I have money to restore it properly or just buy a real IROC in good condition.
I'm wondering do you think the roof could be repaired with some pieces of metal, or will I have to get a sectioned piece from a rust free car? If I get a sectioned piece from a rust free car.. that means either me or the body shop would have to remove all the interior parts, t-tops & weatherstripping, but also the rear hatch glass right?
And do you think they should clear coat blend into the quarter panels, or just have them shoot the quarter panels too? I'm thinking the labor cost to blend it at the quarter panels would be more expensive than just painting the quarter panels. Ideally I would just get the whole car sprayed at the same time, but I don't think I'll have the money for it.
